Establishing the Celestial Cow and Happy Thanksgiving Feasts, and Happy Moo-mas, as we're calling the Celestial Cow-fest around here this week! Many gifts are going out and coming in. Our bulletin board outside the main temple is filled with cards and letters, photographs of the children of our faith, and greetings of the season from people inside and outside the faith. It is interesting to have our winter festival fall between those being celebrated outside the faith; it makes for an entire week of celebration. I hope that all of you are enjoying the festival and using it as a good time to rejoice, find happiness, and to reaffirm all your yearly goals. In a year of Sekhmet and Amun-Ra it is a year when much can be accomplished if we keep working, and when all will be as it should be. Tomorrow I will be posting my annual Thanksgiving list to all those who support our faith, and some news on the gift I have given to the temple, as I always do for the Feast of Offerings on the Altar. Today, celebrate and enjoy! Dua Mehet-weret! Dua Nut! Dua Hethert! Dua Netjer! Nekhtet!

Bless all the children of Netjer, known and unknown! As we prepare for the Feasts of the Celestial Cow and our Kemetic Thanksgiving, as well as the Feast of Offerings Upon The Altar later this week, get some early practice. Thank someone today. Thank several people today. Even for very small things. Watch the gratitude grow. Gratitude, like love, is never wasted...and it always makes more. I thank Netjer for each and every one of you. Dua Netjer! Nekhtet!

Bless all the children of Netjer, known and unknown! While we celebrated our Kemetic New Year in Gregorian August, many of us will be celebrating the Gregorian New Year in a few days. Have you given thought to your "New Year's Resolutions"? Even if it is not our religious New Year, it is the beginning of the Kemetic season of growing, and an excellent time to revise goals and make new challenges for ourselves through the next two seasons leading up to our next Kemetic New Year. Consider sharing them in our Devotions message boards! (A resolution shared is a powerful form of heka). May the gods and goddesses show you Their love and support no matter what year it is! Dua Netjer! Nekhtet!

Bast Guards the Two Lands At the first moon of the new Kemetic season, we also honor the holiday of Bast as protector and Shu as the one Who has encouraged the Eye of Ra to wander back in our direction here in the Northern Hemisphere. It is difficult here in Joliet to think of the return of warmth and spring when it is both cold and very dark, but as a full beautiful moon rises over our cloudless sky, I remember Their promise of Zep Tepi every day, and I am content. May all gods and goddesses show you Their love this weekend, and all days. For those of my family and friends who are celebrating the Christmas holiday with their families and friends, may it be joyous and safe. Dua Bast! Dua Shu! Dua Iah! Nekhtet!

Bless all the children of Netjer, known and unknown! Saq-Bast The Great Lady of Per-Bast, Eye of Ra, appears today and gives Her protection and strength to all. She walks silently, as the cat Her namesake, behind and above, watching and waiting for the right time to strike -- or to find a warm place to curl up contented. May you be Her warm place of rest today. Dua Bast! Nekhtet!

Bless all the children of Netjer, known and unknown! In the peaceful quiet that is the largest holiday week in the Western Hemisphere, carve out some private time for yourself. Give yourself time for fun, friends and even a little rest in the midst of a world that wants to feed, drink, and celebrate you to excess. If you can, make a little time for shrine in the midst of your holiday - we celebrate them at this time of year with our gods, too - and count your blessings. May this season of holidays, ours and those of our family and friends, find you content. Dua Netjer! Nekhtet!

Procession of the Netjeru to Abdju Many gods are on the move today, moving toward Rosetjau, the necropolis of Mennefer, most ancient of places of the Kemetic dead. Because it is too cold here in Joliet (below zero!), I will not be able to go to the cemetery today as planned, but I have placed a green plant, emblem of Wesir, in the Akhu shrine here at the Truth and the Mother Temple. I will be praying today for all our Akhu, known and unknown, named and unnamed, those whose names shine on golden stars put up around the Wesir shrine during the Mysteries two weeks ago and those listed in our Akhu books. There will be offerings and prayers, and love to share. Join me in honoring your Blessed Dead today and watch for Their messages in your dreams tonight. Dua Netjer! Dua Nit! Dua Heka! Dua Akhu! Nekhtet!

Feast of Hethert's Return from Bu-gem Hethert, the Wandering Goddess, reaches the apex of Wandering. At Bu-gem, literally "the place (She) is found," Shu and Djehuty convince Her to return to Kemet, and so light and brightness and the longer days of spring begin their turn back in the Northern Hemisphere at the Winter Solstice. (For our members in the Southern Hemisphere, they must say goodbye to Her as She heads back north at the Summer Solstice). In either hemisphere it is a day to celebrate Hethert, Eye of Ra, on the move! Where is She moving in your life? May Hethert bring you great blessings as you wander through your own life journeys, and may Shu and Djehuty always keep you on the path. May the Meshenet, the spearmen of Heru, protect you as well on this very holy day. Dua Hethert! Dua Shu! Dua Djehuty! Dua Heru! Nekhtet!

Bless all the children of Netjer, known and unknown! It is the midst of a holiday season for many, even as we here in the faith do not celebrate our next large holiday until the end of December. Most of us have family or friends who celebrate other holidays, and some of us will be celebrating those with them as part of family or secular traditions. It is also a time when many feel lonely, left out, or overwhelmed by the sheer magnitude of commercialism and societal pressure. Just this week, a study was released saying that December 25 is the one day of each year when the most people die of natural causes. Whether happy or sad, the holiday season brings lots of stress as well as gifts and gatherings. May you find some quiet, private time in the midst of the holiday rush to find your center, reconnect with those you love, and retreat from stressfulness. Remember that the base of all the religious holidays celebrated at this time is thankfulness, sharing, caring and love, and try to share those traits with yourself and others. I pray in the name of all our gods and goddesses that you find peace at this time when peace is so heartily wished upon all. Dua Netjer! Nekhtet!

Bless all the children of Netjer, known and unknown! Answering Every Speech of Sekhmet In a shaft of light coming from a temple's clerestory window, the icon of Sekhmet can be seen. Behind it, in a shimmer (could it be the dust in the sandy air? or something else) makes the form of the Great Lady, standing and staring directly at you. She proceeds to ask you some very tough questions. Are you ready to answer? Are you ready to tell Her that you are living your life completely in Ma'at to the best of your ability? Are you ready to tell Her that you are living appropriately? Are you ready to tell Her that you are willing to do whatever it takes to do Her work? Listen to what She has to say to you, and then answer, with the confidence of all love. May it be a very productive exercise, and may your shrines carry Her Presence long after She has headed back into the sunlight. Dua Sekhmet! Nekhtet!

Bless all the children of Netjer, known and unknown! In the quiet between midnight and sunrise, as the great Sun reorders His bones and uses the power of Sokar and Khepera to Become a new day, there is much to be grateful for. I send my love and my greatness out to the universe: to the Deities Who made me and all that I love, from the undying flowers in my yard to my closest friends and everything in between. There is no place in this world without the touch of Netjer in it, no place without love. Find this place and share in my wonder. (It's closer than you think!) Dua Netjer! Nekhtet!

Bless all the children of Netjer, known and unknown! Pesdjentiu (New Moon Festival) The Sacred Eye in the evening sky, Heru's injured Eye, begins its slow journey toward healing today at the Pesdjentiu, or festival of the new moon. It is a time of great power, a time when beginnings can be made with luck and precision. What will you do with this time of the healing Eye? I pray in the name of the mighty Hawk that His Eye brings you blessing. Dua Netjer! Nekhtet!

Feast of Coronation, Day 5 The Great One of Flame, Sekhmet, Eye of Ra, places Her guiding light, Her watchful flame, at the head of our altars today. We feel Her presence in the warmth of the love we have for each other, and our desire to be happy and safe. We feel Her presence in the sense of anger we have at injustice in the world and our passion to put it right. We feel Her presence in the heat of life, the shining sun from within that says we exist, we are the wonderful children of the gods, and that we wish to make this a better world day by day. May She walk with you in the light of that sacred Flame, and offer it to you as well as for you. Dua Wesir! Dua Heru-sa-Aset! Dua Sekhmet-Hethert! Nekhtet!

Feast of Coronation, Days 3-4 We continue the celebration of the return of kingship to the world post-Wesir mysteries along with a celebration in honor of the saving of mankind from Sekhmet's destruction. The original, "big" celebration of the Drunkenness feast is right after Kemetic New Year, but this one repeats as well, to reinforce the concept of Zep-Tepi and also to remind us that the Wandering Goddess is about to make Her reappearance in the form of the Winter Solstice, just a week or so away. Lift a red beer in honor of the great goddess today and be content. Dua Wesir! Dua Heru-sa-Aset! Dua Sekhmet-Hethert! Nekhtet!

Bless all the children of Netjer, known and unknown! Feast of Coronation, Day 2 The ancient calendars say that today is a day to "make holiday in your house." We've been making holiday since Friday, but that doesn't mean we can't continue today! The Akhu and the gods in our shrines are really well fed this week, with all this festival food going around. A new plant we received as a gift during our Bast Intensive visit to a local greenhouse, a philodendron if I'm not mistaken, is growing like crazy on the windowsill next to the Wesir shrine, a bright spot of green in the otherwise brown and drab days of a coming winter. Outside, a snapdragon and a rosebush refuse to lose their flowers even though we've had several snows and frosts already. Wesir is around where least you expect Him.... May you find the growing power of the hidden sun in your life, and be content. Dua Wesir! Dua Heru-sa-Aset! Nekhtet!

First Day of the Kemetic Month The second season of the Kemetic year begins today with Peret, the Coming Forth. What is growing in your life? What seeds have you planted in the last four months that will now begin to come into the world with the power of Wesir's hidden growth? It is also the time we celebrate the renewal of the world and its cycles, and two kingships: Wesir's kingship over the land of the Akhu, and Heru's kingship over the land of the living. We are blessed that our gods wish to be with us and among us, and that They are always taking care of us. Nekhtet! May each of the gods of this new season, including Nehebkau Who brings the Akhu together for us, bring you all blessings in this special time. Dua Wesir! Dua Heru-sa-Aset! Dua Nehebkau! Nekhtet!

Feast of Sokar-Wesir (Mysteries of Wesir), Day 7: See the Wesir Mysteries Altar! Nine of us are celebrating Wesir Mysteries together here this afternoon. In a few minutes, I will go to the temple to Raise the Djed and the celebration will commence. Raising the Djed is a ritual declaration of our intention to be "upright" - responsible, happy, and a part of the Ma'at of our world. It is a time for resolutions and challenges, goals and determination. May this raising help you to reach your own point of perfect stability and set you in a good, solid place for the rest of the Kemetic Year. Dua Sokar-Wesir! Nekhtet!

Feast of Sokar-Wesir (Mysteries of Wesir), Day 6: See the Wesir Mysteries Altar! Wesir cries out as Sokar at the moment of His death and is transformed into the Ra of the nighttime. Sokar and Wesir are one. Ra and Wesir are one. All gods are celebrated as eternal and renewed in this holy mystery. This evening, we gather at the temple here to celebrate the entire Mysteries, with the Night Vigil leading up to the great Feast alongside the Raising of the Djed Pillar tomorrow. Pray for growth in the sunrise, and be one with us. Dua Sokar-Wesir! Nekhtet!

Feast of Sokar-Wesir (Mysteries of Wesir), Day 4: Nekhtet! for finally being back online after a week of illness! I've missed all of you very, very much. The Mysteries of Wesir are now upon us in earnest. This evening in our Dua ceremonies we will honor the death of the god Wesir into His kingship of the land of the ancestors with the Lamentations of Aset and Nebt-Het as well as the night vigil, where prayers will be read before the shrine hourly until sunrise. Take a look at our beautiful Wesir Mysteries shrine in the Holy Family shrine area of the Truth and the Mother Temple here at Tawy House! The gods seem very pleased with Their shrine so far, and are eagerly awaiting the arrival of this weekend's retreat group for the Raising of the Djed Pillar ritual and the Feast of Food Upon the Altar. Many shrines are going up all over the world to honor the passage of Wesir from Heru-the-living-king to Sokar-in-transition to Wesir, Foremost of Westerners. It is a very holy and special time for us and I wish each of you a marvelous Wesir Mysteries holiday. In the silence of this evening, may you mourn your losses and yet find quiet peace in their wake. Dua Sokar-Wesir! Dua Nit! Nekhtet!
