About
The daily devotions are written by Her Holiness the Nisut (AUS) and include prayers and special practices for the faithful, corresponding to the Kemetic Orthodox calendar.

From 1994-1999, the daily devotions had been available exclusively to followers of the House of Netjer. We share them now with the general public so that all may learn from these enlightening and thought-provoking missives.

This evening, as part of our honoring the Mysteries of Wesir, we continue mourning the loss of Wesir, with the Lamentations of Aset and Nebt-het read before the people. We will also celebrate something joyful alongside the somber, with the rite of passage of Shemsu Naming of the faithful.

Sometimes this time of year feels very bleak; as if nothing will ever grow again and all hope is lost. The Mysteries exist at this time to remind us that no loss is permanent, no death is the end, and nothing ever goes away forever: with every new day, every new morning, there is hope and life and renewal there for the taking.

Take your renewal as we witness the transformation of Wesir into the King of the Akhu, Lord of the Duat. Remember that you too can change and grow and become far more powerful than you have ever been before...and never let anyone, or anything, take that away from you.

Dua Wesir! Dua Sokar! Dua Ptah! Nekhtet!

Welcome to the new Daily Devotions! I've rearranged the material and content so that you can learn more about our Kemetic Orthodox Festival Calendar and how it works. The "Cairo Calendar" is a papyrus dating from the late Ramesside Period that contains a list of lucky and unlucky days and was used as a sort of almanac. Enjoy it alongside the other interesting material to be included here!

Since the list was off for some time, we have had to revamp some of the mailing list and we did lose some of our members, particularly those who had subscribed via AOL as AOL was blocking our server. Please feel free to re-join the list, or join the list for the first time -- it's up and running again!

Join me this week in celebrating the second biggest of our annual festivals, the Mysteries of Wesir. This week we honor the death and burial of Wesir and His transformation not back into the land of the living, but into the land of the dead where He becomes their ruler and guardian. It is a quiet time, but a sacred and joyous time as well. We'll be celebrating in person here at Tawy House later this week, and I'll be sure to check in and tell you how it's going. We'll also be celebrating the festival alongside our next Shemsu Naming Ceremony in Dua this coming Wednesday.

It's great to be back. I hope you enjoy this as much as I do.

Dua Wesir! Dua Sokar! Dua Ptah! Nekhtet!

Em hotep!

The Daily Ma'at list is experiencing some difficulties, including that AOL has evidently forcibly unsubscribed dozens of AOL base emails from the list without asking us or the people on the list if that was what they wanted.

If you were unsubscribed from our list over the last 48 hours but did not ask to be unsubscribed, please send an email to nisut@kemet.org so that we can gather the names of the people who wish to stay on the list to submit to AOL to unblock, and make sure that the list's emails are set for acceptance in any spam blocking software you may have.

We apologize for the inconvenience and hope to restart the list over this coming weekend when Hemet (AUS) completes the Coronation retreat.
