About
The daily devotions are written by Her Holiness the Nisut (AUS) and include prayers and special practices for the faithful, corresponding to the Kemetic Orthodox calendar.

From 1994-1999, the daily devotions had been available exclusively to followers of the House of Netjer. We share them now with the general public so that all may learn from these enlightening and thought-provoking missives.

Feast of Wesir-Khentiamentiu (20th)
Feast of Sekhmet and Bast before Ra, Day 2 (20th)
Soaring Falcon, Days 12 and 13

Slowly but surely, the Mysteries approach. What will you be doing for our second-biggest Kemetic Orthodox holiday of the year?

I invite all of you to consider joining us for the Wesir Mysteries celebrations both in our online Dua ceremonies later in the month as well as live at Tawy House over the weekend of December 3. We'll be holding an overnight vigil in the shrine as well as a huge festival meal over the weekend and there's plenty of room at His table!

I am also very pleased to announce at this time of heightened magic, the achievement of our Imakhu Seshagemseger (Rev. Dave Dean) who has fulfilled the requirements to become a heri-sesheta, or mystery-keeping priest, for his spiritual Mother, Seshat. Nekhtet for him!

May the great gods and goddesses of this weekend smile upon you and bless your lives in every way possible and imaginable. May you find lots of good surprises as part of that process!

Dua Wesir Khentiamentiu! Dua Sekhmet! Dua Bast! Dua Ra! Dua Heru-wer! Nekhtet!

Thought for the Day:

Plowing the Earth Festival
Procession of Hedjhotep and Tayet
Soaring Falcon, Day 10

Hedjhotep, the Netjeri of the White Crown, and Tayet, a form of Aset associated with pure white linen, make a procession today as we move toward the time of the Mysteries of Sokar-Wesir, one of our holiest times of the year.

As whiteness and purity go throughout the land, peace descends, and we prepare to pray and watch through Sokar-Wesir's vigil into eternity, and His festival of Becoming.

May these times bring peace and power to your hearts.

Dua Hedjhotep! Dua Tayet! Dua Heru-wer! Nekhtet!

Feast of Wesir in the Neshmet Boat
Saq-Min
Procession of Khnum
Soaring Falcon, Day 7

Creativity abounds as we honor great gods of growth and power and courage and force, the mighty males Who protect and invigorate.

We celebrate Wesir in the boat of the Nighttime Sun, Who as Sokar traverses the eternal night and makes sure that daylight will always come no matter what.

We celebrate Min, growth incarnate, as the final harvests are made in the northern hemisphere and the growing season just begins in the southern hemisphere.

We celebrate Khnum, Whose hands mold us all.

And we continue to celebrate Heru-wer, the mighty Eye in the Sky, Who teaches us of the secrets of victory and honor.

May each of these gods touch your heart and give you joy.

Dua Wesir! Dua Min! Dua Khnum! Dua Heru-wer! Nekhtet!

Pesdjentiu (New Moon Festival)
Feast of the Soaring Falcon, Day 4

On this day of Heru's Eye Returning during the great festival of the Soaring Falcon, I am absolutely delighted to report that our Khenmetaset of New York City was ordained this evening as a full Imakhu (minister/temple administrator priest) in addition to her existing service as a W'abet (ritual/liturgical technician priest) to Her spiritual Mother, Aset-Serqet.

From today on we will know our Kheni as Imakhu Sedjemes Ersedjem Sekhem em Ma'at her Ankh, or Imakhu Sedjem(es) for short. A big nekhtet! to her and our prayers and good wishes as she begins her new journey as a minister to the people of Kemetic Orthodoxy.

May the great god Heru-wer look kindly on the Bast Intensive starting this evening as well, and on each of you as we think of you here in the Truth and the Mother Shrine.

Dua Heru-wer! Nekhtet!

Feast of the Winged Disk, Day 3
Feast of the Soaring Falcon, Day 3

Heru of Behdet (the temple of Edfu in Upper Kemet) is in festival today. Great of Victories, the Speckled Hawk of Sky descends, His two Eyes fixed on making justice and ma'at flow throughout the world. Sweeping down from the sky from His winged disk, He scatters all the enemies of truth and love, making the world a safer, happier place for all.

May we always remember to call on Him in need, and may we always remember that He is watching even when we think He isn't!

I pray in the name of this great god that we find our personal victories to be sweet and that we know we are safe, and protected, under His mighty wings.

Dua Heru-wer! Nekhtet!

Processions of Heru, Shu, Nebt-het, Hethert, Menhuy, Sobek, Hemon & Amun, Day 4
Feast of Sobek

A new beginner's group, the sixteenth since we started formal beginner's courses for the faith, began last evening. Welcome home to so many of you. I hope you enjoy your experience and stick around for the fellowship and fun after the class!

We're gearing up for our Bast weekend intensive in a few days. Renovations are continuing, furniture's moving, walls are being painted and lots of linens are being laundered, among other things. During all this busy time we'll also be performing some more Rites of Parent Divination for some of our Remetj, and getting ready for the big festivals of Heru coming up, another Shemsu Naming ceremony, and the huge holiday of the Mysteries of Wesir starting at the end of the month!

I give thanks to the gods of this month that we are able to do all of these things, with so much love and support, and that we continue to serve Netjer and the people of Netjer every day.

May the gods bless you.

Procession of Khnum-Ra , Day 2 (Nov. 6)
Processions of Heru, Shu, Nebt-het, Hethert, Menhuy, Sobek, Hemon & Amun, Days 2-3

This weekend was a special anniversary for me, and I celebrated it with volunteer work and regular work, most of which was offline. In addition to the archaeological dig I volunteered my time with on Saturday, I spent some time with children, visited a nature preserve, continued the construction/renovation projects here at Tawy House, and managed to have two very nice dinners with members of the Midwest Imy-ra group both Saturday night and Sunday night. (Somewhere in there I even slept, played with my cat, and got some private time in the shrine!)

It is going to be a banner year for us. Thank you for being a part of our ministry and for visiting; stick around and watch us grow!

First Day of the Kemetic Month
Periplus of Hethert
Procession of Khnum-Ra , Day 1
Processions of Heru, Shu, Nebt-het, Hethert, Menhuy, Sobek, Hemon & Amun, Day 1

Today we celebrate the last month of Inundation for this Kemetic year. Many projects are growing and building. Creativity is on the march. Where are you heading with your life at this time? (Where would you like to go?) Give these great gods of festival an offering and ask for your heart's desire.

Tomorrow, I will begin my eighth year as Nisut. I will spend the morning and afternoon in service, having volunteered to help with an archaeological dig here in Chicago's Chinatown. Come evening, I will be returning to the temple to spend some private time in the shrine and then it'll be back to correspondence and all the things that usually fill my days in Tawy House.

It's an amazing honor to be able to serve you. Thank you for letting me do so, and for all of your love and support. Already today I've received a beautiful gift, a gift that leaves me speechless -- a second painting from our A'anetamun. Thank you so much, A'anet! Every time you paint something it leaves tears in my eyes. This too will grace our shrine alongside the beautiful painting you did for me at Heb-sed time earlier this year.

Thank you, all, of you, from the bottom of my ka.

Procession of Nebtu and Behdety (Set and Heru), Day 2
Procession of Hethert, Day 2
Last Day of the Kemetic Month
Feast of Anuket
Saq-Heka

The sun rises and I see Netjer.

The wind blows and I hear Netjer.

The sky is filled with clouds and the mountains rise to greet it, and I bow to Netjer's height.

The earth is covered with its bounty of plants and trees spreading in all directions, and I bow to Netjer's width.

The waters sing out the words of creation, and I bow to Netjer's depth.

There is no place in all of creation that does not honor its Creator, not the lowest point in the sea, the highest point on any mountain, or the deepest part of the heart of any of Netjer's creations.

The gods and goddesses are within, without, around, under, over, before and behind.

We are surrounded by the love of the divine, and part of the divine plan.

May we always remember this.

Procession of Hethert, Day 1
Processions of Wadjet, Nekhbet and Sekhmet

Today is a special day of offerings to many powerful gods, as we close out the third month of the first Kemetic season.

It is also a day when I am remembering many people in my prayers and my hekau. Are you on my list? Would you like to me? Send an email to nisut@kemet.org and let me know!

May all the gods and goddesses be fully present in your lives today and grant you peace. May the gods of the processions of this day bestow all Their strength, staying power, and shining love upon you. You deserve it.

Establishing the Djed of Temu

The djed, or symbol of stability and constancy, of the Creator Temu is established today.

Life continues, as part of the eternal cycle of Zep Tepi, the first time, a string of beginnings with no end except yet another beginning.

You are in the midst of this very powerful time, today and always.

Use it well.

Heru welcomes the Nile (Day 4)
Festival of Sokar

We celebrate the return of the Inundation in full as we begin to reap the results of work done at the beginning of the Kemetic New Year. If the busyness and clutter of my office this week are any indication, we're in for quite a full deluge of creativity and results this next season! Nekhtet!

At this time of year we also honor Sokar, as we enter the last month of Akhet and begin to ponder the Mysteries of Wesir, sometimes called by their Greek name Isia. It is a time to reflect, to use our memory, to remember those who have gone before and to re-link ourselves with time and with the Akhu, our blessed ancestors. The Mysteries revolve around the idea that life always prevails, that what goes down comes back up again, and that what is lost will always be found.

May it be a holy and very fulfilling time for you, and may Sokar, Wesir triumphant, bless you with His calming, comforting, very loving Presence.

Dua Heru-wer! Dua Sokar! Nekhtet!
