Feast of Sokar-Wesir (Day 5) Thanks to the intercession of the great goddesses Aset and Nebt-het, the wisdom of Djehuty and the magic working of Yinepu and Heru-sa-Aset, Wesir has now made His transformation and become the great Nisut of the Duat, the Lord of the Akhu and the Unseen Realms. Nekhtet! We celebrate His return to us in all His actualized power with feasting and joy, dancing, drumming and lots of happiness. Proof that we can become all that we intend to become is with us. Nekhtet! I pray in the name of great Wesir, Lord upon His Terrace, that you are safe, happy and enjoying this holy festival. Dua Sokar! Dua Wesir! Nekhtet!

Feast of Sokar-Wesir (Day 4) Through the night, the candles burn, and the Sisters lament and watch as Their brother is transformed, with the help of Djehuty, Yinepu and Heru-sa-Aset, into the very first Akh, the king of Akhu. As the night progresses we say prayers at each of the hours, reminding Wesir of the work He has yet to do, the work of potential. Growth cannot stop with change; it must continue, push onward and upward like the sprout reaches for sunlight in order to become a plant. Wesir must end his travelling in order that we might be whole again and celebrate again. As Wesir makes His journey, we honor Nit, the creative Matrix from whence all creation rises, the place where all beginnings begin, Nit Who is also Seshat, recorder of history; and Nebt-het the transformative power of change and particularly death and rebirth. May the Red Lady walk with the Green Lord and witness His rising in the warm, close darkness of his own Zep Tepi. Dua Sokar! Dua Wesir! Dua Nit! Nekhtet!

Feast of Sokar-Wesir, Day 3 The wailing women go about today, reminding us to mourn for those things we love that are lost. We give our tears, the water and natron of our souls, to the Blessed Dead Whose voices shall no longer resound in our ears in quite the same way as they once did. We give our tears, the water and natron of our souls, for all our lost opportunities, that they might be nurtured in Sokar's perfect darkness and return to us one day when we are ready to take them. We give our tears, the water and natron of our souls, for all the sadness and misery of the world, that it might be washed away as the Inundation washes away the dryness of the desert. Our tears cleanse, purify, and nourish. May they always give comfort, and may our mourning be true and appropriate, ending at its proper time. May the ass, symbol of all those things we are too stubborn to accept, and the serpent, symbol of all the things we despise in ourselves yet know are part of us, be trampled underfoot today and allow us to stop mourning our mistakes and move into a new cycle of growth. Dua Sokar! Dua Wesir! Nekhtet!

Feast of Sokar-Wesir, Day 2 The greatest of our holy days are upon us, and within the holiday of Wesir's death and transformation, the most somber and sacred of nights. Tonight, candles will burn all night and vigil will be kept before Wesir as He is prepared for His journey to the beautiful West. Lamentations, sung by the great goddesses Aset and Nebt-het, will be repeated at each hour as the night lengthens and eventually gives way to a new day. May you undergo your own transformations at this holy time and emerge bright, clean and new, with the power of Sokar-Wesir, the hidden growth, coursing through you. I will pray for each of you during the vigil, and encourage you to join me at any time you wish in your own shrines with prayers. If you want to light candles, green or black or white candles are most appropriate (please burn them safely). And if you sleep, watch your dreams for messages from the Holy Lord tonight. I also look forward to sharing these Mysteries with you in Dua tomorrow evening. Dua Sokar! Dua Wesir! Dua Aset! Dua Nebt-het! Nekhtet!

Procession of Sokar (Day 11) As I travel to a Parliament event at the Kashi Ashram in Florida this Monday, I carry each of you in my heart. Know that I love you and that you are in my thoughts and prayers as I go out to represent you and Kemet for the interreligious community. This weekend, may the great Hawks, Sokar and Heru, soar above you in peace and protection. Look for Their wings in the sky and know that you are never alone. Dua Sokar! Dua Behdety! Dua Heru-akhety! Nekhtet!

Procession of Sokar (Day 10) We made it! Tawy House Michigan has been moved to Tawy House Illinois! (Photos will be forthcoming as soon as they can be uploaded). A huge Dua Netjer enten to Kai-Imakhu Antybast, Kai-Imakhu Inibmutes, Kai-Imakhu Niankhsekhmet, Khenmetaset, Nakhtdeshretiu and Robb for coming out and helping us make our tri-state move happen; to Nakht's family (Pat, Brandy and Pat F.) for assisting with small construction and furniture moves; and to Biaytsekhmet and three-month-old Lex for coming out to cheer on daddy Robb and the rest of us as we put together all that moved furniture and cleaned up the new place on Sunday. There's more to be moved and much more to be purchased and installed, but our new temple building is really starting to look like a temple. I can't wait for everyone to come visit, and join in our celebrations. May your celebrations of our holidays at home be as wonderful as ours here. Dua Sokar! Dua Behdety! Dua Heru-akhety! Nekhtet!

Procession of Sokar (Day 4) Wesir, Who descended into the boat of Ra yesterday, prepares for His journey by making His first transformation into the bird of creation, the mythical Benu bird sometimes called Phoenix. Wesir Who is Ra on this day rises, rises from the potential of the past, to become the potential of the future. May you rise like Him, and be your own Benu, today. Dua Sokar! Dua Behdety! Dua Heru-akhety! Dua Wesir! Dua Ra! Nekhtet!

Procession of Sokar (Days 2-3) As Sokar nears Wesir's home, Wesir is celebrated as a member of Ra's crew. Min, the great god of growth and virility, makes His ritual appearance. And Khnum, the creator Who makes all spirits on His potter's wheel with holy earth, proceeds forth today to bless the People. This is a time of great potential. What will you create with it? Dua Sokar! Dua Behdety! Dua Heru-akhety! Dua Wesir! Dua Min! Dua Khnum! Nekhtet!

Procession of Sokar (Day 1) Sokar's icons begin to move toward the holy city of Wesir, as the moon begins to wane and the Mysteries approach. As the light dims and the silence grows, what potential projects will you consider putting into action? Give yourself time and silence to think about these things over the next 12 days or so, as the time of Hidden Growth nears. Dua Behdety! Dua Heru-akhety! Nekhtet!

Feast of the Winged Disk (Day 4) Both our festivals celebrate the concept of victory, both in a cosmic sense and in the sense of overcoming challenges in our own lives. What challenges have you faced, and had victory over, in your life? Share them with others, and make your victory that much more great. I pray in the name of the Great Hawk of Heaven that your victories are without number. Dua Behdety! Dua Heru-akhety! Nekhtet!

Feast of the Winged Disk (Days 2-3) The moon rises pale and full, then disappears to a reddish hue...and then slowly reappears again. In the heavens, the myth of the injury and healing of Heru's Lesser Eye is shown to all creation. It is a special day for prayer and for contemplation of the cyclical nature of the universe, where every covering is followed by a revelation, and every darkness followed by brilliant shining light. Know that an eclipse, like the nighttime, is part of the greater cycle of the Circle of Time we call neheh, everlastingness, and that any dismal or dark place in your life is only part of a larger cycle to which light can, and in fact must, return soon. Feast of the Winged Disk (Day 1) Immediately proceeding the Mysteries of Wesir, a festival honoring kingship in the lands of the living is recognized. The Winged Disk and Soaring Falcon festivals of Edfu honor Heru-wer in His form of Heru-Behdety, the Sun-Disk of Divine Victory; and Heru-akhety the Hawk of Two Horizons. Together with the appearance of Hethert, Behdety's beautiful wife, and Heka, Heru-akhety's form as the creator of all authoritative speech, we celebrate greatly as Heru's second Eye in the form of the moon grows to its fullness. This year, a lunar eclipse brings even more interesting heka to the celebration. May the Great Speckled Hawk bless you and your family, your friends, your work and your lives richly, a million times over, in this time of His great feast. Dua Behdety! Dua Heru-akhety! Dua Hethert! Coronation Day Each year I struggle to find the right words to write on this day that has so much personal importance for me, the anniversary of my coronation during my 1996 pilgrimage to Egypt and the holy places of our faith. Mostly the thing I want to say is thank you. Thank you to the gods for Your help and advice, support and love; thank you to the people of Kemet of old, for leaving us their legacy; and thank you to the people of Kemet today, for being who you are and allowing me to serve you. Thank you. Dua-Netjer enten, I thank Netjer a million times for you, and look forward to Year 11 in your service, from the three years as the royal priest proxy (1993-1996 CE) and now going on eight as your Nisut. Please let me know, at any time, if there is anything I can do for you, to teach, to support, or to love, as that is my duty, my purpose, and my honor. Dua Heru! Dua Shu! Dua Nebthet! Dua Menhuy! Dua Sobek! Dua Hemon! Dua Amun! Nekhtet!

Procession of Khnum-Ra (Day 2) Many gods are around, in the world, giving out Their messages for those who are listening, watching and paying attention. What do the gods have to say to you? I pray in the names of these and all gods that the messages you receive are the ones you are seeking at this time in your life, and that they enable you to open doors you never imagined to find, or have the keys to. May these gods bless you a million times over. Dua Khnum-Ra! Dua Heru! Dua Shu! Dua Nebthet! Dua Menhuy! Dua Sobek! Dua Hemon! Dua Amun! Nekhtet!

First Day of the Kemetic Month Our gods are home. Over the weekend, we completed the move of the holy icons from the main shrine of Kemetic Orthodoxy from the temple room in my house into their permanent temple home in Joliet, Illinois. What a wonderful time for the faith! The feeling in this room, even though the rest of the temple furniture has yet to arrive and be installed, is indescribable. Our gods are as happy as we are to have a beautiful, large space to live in. May They bless our move as the rest of our temple takes shape. Dua Hethert! Dua Khnum-Ra! Dua Heru! Dua Shu! Dua Nebthet! Heru Welcomes the Nile (Days 5-7) Many holidays present themselves as we enter the last month of the Inundation, the month when Wesir's mysteries are made manifest. It is a month of tremendous potential, a month when all the dreams you have ever made could begin to come true, with the proper preparation and nurturing. At the beginning of the month, all the gods of our Two Lands, all the protectors of Kemet, lend Their blessing as They are feasted and honored in ritual processions. I pray for and bless each reader in Wesir's name that this is a beautiful Mystery Season for you. Dua Heru! Dua Temu! Dua Set! Dua Hethert! Dua Wadjet! Dua Nekhbet! Dua Sekhmet! Dua Ra! Dua Wesir!
