Heru Welcomes the Nile (Day 4) On October 30, 1993, Kai-Imakhu Antybast entered the service of the goddess Bast as Her priest. On October 30, 2003, he celebrates ten years in the Kemetic Orthodox priesthood on the eve of our move into our full-time temple, seminary, and retreat center. I don't think either he or I would have believed this would be happening today if you had asked us that evening when a very young man said yes to a very old goddess. May She bless Antybast's next ten years at the head of our church, and all those lives he has touched, and will touch, via his work. Happy spiritual birthday. Dua Heru! Dua Sokar! Nekhtet!

Heru Welcomes the Nile (Days 1-3)
On the day that Aset and Nebt-het appeared in ritual for us, the new temple, seminary and residence property for the House of Netjer was formally purchased. It is interesting that this holiday occurred at the same time as the closing -- as the 27th was not our original closing date; it had been moved three times without our checking what holiday the date fell upon beforehand. Today we also welcome 19 new Remetj into the House of Netjer and the Kemetic Orthodox faith, and complete the application process for about 40 new potentials, or beginners, in the faith. If you have applied for our latest beginners' class but have not received any sort of confirmation of your application, please contact us right away; it is my understanding that a few e-mails have bounced and we may not have up-to-date contact information for you. By this evening, everyone should have received some letter confirming their place in the course. We congratulate all our new members and issue a very warm welcome to our new beginners as they start the introduction to Kemetic Orthodoxy with our liaisons and staff. All of these events are occurring as we begin the Heru Welcoming the Nile Festival, a festival I personally marked in 1996 with a life-changing pilgrimage to Egypt, and one I re-celebrate each year as the anniversary of my work for Netjer and for you as Nisut. Hard to believe it's been seven years...Is it a great time to be around here, or what? Dua Aset! Dua Nebt-het! Dua Heru! Nekhtet!

Pesdjentiu (New Moon Festival) On the days of New Moon, we honor Heka, the form of Shu-in-Heru Who rides in Ra's eternal boat, speaking the words of creation and destruction. Great Heka shines forth for us in our lives and brings us all the things we speak of, dream of, hope for, and talk about, whether verbally or in the little voice in our heads, the voice of ka. This weekend we complete our preparations for the purchase of our new temple home. Once this is completed much of our day-to-day work will resume a regular schedule, even though much more work needs to be done before it will be ready to open! Join with me in saying the words of prayer and heka to bless our move into the future as it begins this Monday. I love you all very much. Dua Heka! Nekhtet!

Bless all the children of Netjer, known and unknown! Saq Bast, Nebet Ankhtawy On Wednesday evening, we met with Bast in the ritual of Saq. She granted insight, blessing, and love to the two dozen or so participants in the ceremony, and offered me some things to ponder before She left, which I received permission to share with you here. I would like for all of My children to know that they are not alone, that there are many around them that are reaching out. They must never stop reaching out; it is in community that love grows. She reminds us that emotions are not to be suppressed, but lived in all of their power; thus do we learn how to live, with ourselves and with each other. We are very grateful for the words of Nebet Ankhtawy, the Lady of the Life of the Two Lands. Dua Bast! Nekhtet!

Bless all the children of Netjer, known and unknown! Be conscious of the presence of the gods and goddesses in your life, your everyday surroundings. Feel the warmth of Amun's sun, and the light of Ra, as you make your way through the day. Shu provides wind; Tefnut the clouds; and Hethert the beautiful sky of day. At night, know Nut in the starry heaven, Geb supporting you as you stand upon Him, and Shu and Tefnut playing in the ether between. Know the thoughts of Wesir repeated in the whispering leaves and grasses. Observe the gods within the animals surrounding you, whether they are the domestic pets that remind us of Yinepu and Bast, the birds in the sky or the waters that remind us of many gods like Heru, Geb, Amun, Ra, Aset, Nebt-het or Djehuty. Within every single eye blink you should take in some thing that you can tie in with some god or goddess -- whether it is a book (Djehuty), a lover (Hethert), or a child (Heru-sa-Aset or Bes)... the possibilities are infinite. See the gods and goddesses in your life, know they are there, and never be alone. Dua Netjer! Nekhtet!

Bless all the children of Netjer, known and unknown! It is an amazingly busy time for us in the faith, even more so than usual this time of year. The closing on our new temple property is one week away, and many things remain to be done before then, as well as all of the planning after then to move Tawy House from one state to another and then the other subsidiary moves to set up our temple offices and our seminary offices in their new, permanent home. Exciting? Exhausting? Both, of course -- but also a time when I'm still working on various projects for each of you, including our newest group of members moving from beginner status into Remetjhood, and 40 new members invited to join our next beginners' group starting this week. Several writing projects near completion and will add to the body of Kemetic Orthodox knowledge within the month. There is no part of my life without change, action, and creativity right now. What an amazing time to be here and be sharing this with all of you! Know that at each sunrise you are named, blessed, and loved, and that more and more happy news will be coming your way through this Devotion. Keep your eyes on this page! Dua Netjer! Nekhtet!

Feast of the Half-Month (18th) The Great Nine (Pesedjet), the creator Ra-Temu and His family, are greeted today as They go out into the world. Wherever you go, feel the presence of Temu, Shu and Tefnut, Geb and Nut, Wesir, Aset, Set and Nebt-het, and learn Their lessons. May They all bring you joy and peace, as you receive Their blessings. I pray in the names of all of these wonderful gods for you to be instilled with strength, love, hope, joy and connection to your gods. Dua Pesedjet! Nekhtet!

Bless all the children of Netjer, known and unknown! In the subtle changing of the season toward the harvest time when we give the grains to Wesir -- or for those of our people in the southern hemisphere, the time when the sun has begun to grow again -- we are cognizant of change. We feel Nebt-het, as Seshat, the keeper of history. We feel Her as change, as death, and as the transformation of one thing into another. We feel Her as Nit, the warrior Who is also the Creator of all, Who encourages us to fight our way ever upward and onward, to continue the battle against the Uncreated and thus regain the newness of Zep Tepi in every sunrise, every day. Take the gift of time into your hands and make something of it. Dua Netjer! Nekhtet!

Bless all the children of Netjer, known and unknown! Wesir Sails to Abdju The great god Wesir moves toward His holy city. The time of the Mysteries is one Kemetic month away. Soon, we will celebrate the powers of life, death, rebirth and transformation, the powers that create all we know and love and cause our world to be. Give thanks that the cycle continues, and that you are part of it. Dua Wesir! Nekhtet!

Bless all the children of Netjer, known and unknown! Pacification of the Gods' Hearts, Wherever They Are When peace comes to the hearts of the gods, They are peaceful. The Kemetic word for 'peaceful' is hotep. When hotep comes to the hearts of the gods, They are also satisfied (also hotep.) When hotep comes to the hearts of the gods, They accept it as Their offering (again, hotep.) Offer peace in satisfaction, and hotep is yours three times over. I love you all very much. Bless all the children of Netjer, known and unknown! Today when you are in your shrine, reach outward. Reach outward to Netjer, and feel It in the form of whatever god or goddess that calls you. Reach outward to the world, and feel the pulse of its life surrounding you. Reach outward to the universe, and feel the pulse of all lives, working together to continue the work of creation Netjer started for us so very long ago. As you reach outward, and your hands fill with the power of what you experience, take those hands back toward yourself in an embrace. Embrace Netjer. Embrace the world. Embrace the universe. Embrace yourself. Know that you are loved by all of these Beings, all of these things, and by me. Dua Netjer! Nekhtet!

Bless all the children of Netjer, known and unknown! It is a time when dreams are becoming reality, when the prosperity and love given to us by the gods are coming to flower. Aset told us in our new year's oracle of the month of the third moon, where it is appropriate to give white flowers to the great goddess Hethert and request a boon of love or prosperity from Her. Make good use of this time and share the love with others. I pray in the name of the beautiful goddess, the flowering Golden One, that you are held safe and secure in Her embrace, and that all that is beautiful in the world comes to you as you so richly deserve it. May She bless you, and bless you again. Dua Netjer! Nekhtet!

Along with His rising comes all the power and majesty of the ancestors, the gods and all those They love. May your fortunes rise with the brilliant moon, celebrating the culmination of Opet in the gods of the moon: Iah, Djehuty, Khonsu, Wesir and Heru. I pray for each and every one of you that this month brings great love and prosperity in the name of Hethert, Its owner. Dua Wesir! Dua Ra! Dua Heru! Nekhtet!

Bless all the children of Netjer, known and unknown! Encouragement of the Gods of the Two Lands It is a wonderful and amazing feeling to know the presence of Deity, no matter what you use as Its name. To feel the presence of a god or goddess, and to know it to be real -- the touch of the Eternal upon your own cheek -- is one of the most moving and important blessings we ever receive. Today, all the gods and goddesses are reaching out to you. Will you receive Their blessings and messages? I pray in the name of your god, whether you are a child of Kemet or not, that today is a day of great spiritual meaning. Dua Netjeru nebu! Nekhtet!

Opet (Day 10 of 11) So, just when you thought I put in the most good news I could possibly share in a devotion...I have more! This weekend, during our biannual clergy retreat, two more people answered Netjer's call to specific levels of legal clergy service within the Kemetic Orthodox Faith. Our W'ab priest Asetmekti was consecrated as an imy-set'a, or Imakhu-in-training. She now joins Ikhet-itw, Senyt-menu, and Khenmetaset as imyu-set'a who are training to become legal minister/counselors/administrators, or Imakhu, in addition to the ritual work they already do for the faith as W'ab priests. Nekhtet! Imy-set'a Meresinepu undertook formal vows and was ordained as a full Imakhu priest of her spiritual father, Yinepu-Wepwawet, and is now known by the additional name of Imakhu Meresinepu Weptesmerutef. Imakhu Meres joins fellow Imakhu Neferuhethert and Seshagemseger, and kai-Imakhu Niankhsekhmet, Inibmutes, Merybast and Antybast as the legally-ordained clergy of our faith. Congratulations to Imakhu (Reverend) Meres! Nekhtet! I am so proud of our clergy team, ever-expanding as our faith expands. May the gods bless their work very richly. Dua Amun! Dua Mut! Dua Khonsu! Dua Hethert! Nekhtet!

Opet (Day 8 of 11) Very likely, there'll never be a Daily Devotion more exciting than this one...so I won't cover it with words. I will instead let it talk for itself, as this is the biggest Opet gift anybody could ever ask for. This afternoon, the House of Netjer bought itself a temple. Not a conference center, or a small building -- but a three-story, 18-room permanent building where we will house the current House of Netjer main temple, the offices of the Imhotep Kemetic Orthodox Seminary and the Udjat Foundation for Children, and the current and expanded offerings of Tawy House Kemetic Orthodox Retreat Center. We are greatly indebted to a massive fundraising effort taken on by a dozen benefactors, even more members and friends of the faith, and continued support of our people and the children of Netjer everywhere. This is the moment we have been waiting for all our lives. I'll show you a picture and shut up.
From the bottom of my ka, and the Kingly Ka celebrating its birthday this week, I thank you all and look forward to the amazing leap forward this represents for our faith and people. Dua Amun! Dua Mut! Dua Khonsu! Dua Hethert! Dua Ra! Dua Heru! Dua Wesir! Nekhtet!

Opet (Day 6 of 11) There is change on the wind. Shu brings change; good change, needed change. Change that is the breath of life to small places that have not felt His feather in some time. Bring yourself into this wind, this breath of life gift of gods, and be renewed. Dua Amun! Dua Mut! Dua Khonsu! Dua Montu! Dua Heru! Dua Hethert! Nekhtet!
