(Year 14, Djehuty 25 - I Akhet 25)

Bless all the children of Netjer, known and unknown!
May your coming be peaceful.

God(s) of the Month: Djehuty
Current Decan: 3: Kheri-heped Kenemut, "Beneath the Obscurity"
Today's Festival(s):
Feast of Shemsety
Sekhmet Repels the Shemsu of Set

Say heru em meses nefer (Happy birthday!) to:
Shemsut Sekhmetnisi in Oklahoma (yesterday)

"Cairo Calendar" Entry:
Do not go out of your house on any road at night. Day of Sekhmet going to the eastern district and the repelling of the Shemsu of Set. As for any lion whom they approach, he will pass away at once Feast of Shemsety. Do everything on it.

Shemsety, or "eldest sister," is a title of Aset and today is one of Her holidays. Make a special offering to Her as the one who can "do everything!" Today we also honor Sekhmet's power of appropriateness overcoming the challenges Set's Netjeri set for us in changing our lives. (Change is always easier when we do it appropriately rather than stubbornly, isn't it?) Make offering to Sekhmet and to Set so that your challenges in life are always appropriate and always successful, and even perhaps a little less painful!

May the two powerful goddesses of this day, Eyes of Ra, grant you success in everything you do.

Dua Aset! Dua Sekhmet! Nekhtet!

(Year 14, Djehuty 22 - I Akhet 22)

Bless all the children of Netjer, known and unknown!
May your coming be peaceful.

God(s) of the Month: Djehuty
Current Decan: 3: Kheri-heped Kenemut, "Beneath the Obscurity"
Today's Festival(s):
Feast of Shu and Tefnut, Day 5
Great Procession and Festival of Wesir
Feast of Yinepu-Wepwawet

Say heru em meses nefer (Happy birthday!) to:
Shemsu Semweniemdjehuty in Tennessee (25 August)
Remetj Kurt C. in Montana (26 August)

"Cairo Calendar" Entry:
Ra calls every god and goddess, and They await His arrival. He let Them enter into His belly; then They began to move about within Him; then He killed Them all and vomited into the water. They then turned into fish and Their kau turned into birds and flew into heaven....Feast of Wepwawet. Anything you do on it will be good.

Shu and Tefnut, Yesterday and Today, the first two emanations of the Creator, are honored today as the Sacred Eyes Who create all things. Along with Them we honor Wesir, great one of the Duat, and Yinepu-Wepwawet, the jackal at the gates. It is a day to continue remembering the Akhu we remembered at the Wag Festival and to continue to build up our blessings with the dead.

Our Akhu have made it so that we can be here in the world. Continuing to honor Them, even though They are not among the living any longer, reinforces the connections between the worlds and improves our lives. Do not neglect your Akhu, even in favor of your gods. All Their spirits are helpful and useful -- and already known to you.

May the Akhu shining in the vault of Nut bring you peace.

Dua Shu! Dua Tefnut! Dua Wesir! Dua Yinepu-Wepwawet! Nekhtet!

Today's Festival(s):
Wag Festival Eve
Feast of Sobek-Ra

Say heru em meses nefer (Happy birthday!) to:
Shemsu Raemnisut in Germany, Remetj Mike M. in Illinois and Rootnamed Child of the faith Ibuemhebet (Ibet) in Kansas (17 August)
Rootnamed Child of the faith Tawyemheb (Taheb) in South Africa (18 August)
Shemsut Tashenutnit in Arizona (19 August)
Imyt-set'a Mehetibeminpu in Utah; Shemsut Hatyt'ahethert in Virginia and Shemsut Henutptah in Arizona (22 August)
Shemsu-Ankh Djehutymose in New Zealand and Remetj Malcolm A. in New York (today)

"Cairo Calendar" Entry:
Do not eat any fish. It is the day of taking away Sobek's offerings, the feast of Sobek-Ra.

It is the eve of the Wag (pronounced wog) Festival, our great ancient holiday in honor of all our ancestors. Consider making a trip to the cemetery today or tomorrow, reading out names of your Akhu in shrine and pouring water to cool their souls and give them rest and blessing in order to reaffirm your connection and protection with them.

It was interesting to me that something I did in honor of our ancestors came to life last night: a professional interview I gave as part of a History Channel documentary on the Egyptian Book of the Dead premiered last night, and will be re-aired over this weekend. May They receive blessing and happiness from the entire program, which was about the ways in which a particular Kemetic Akh, the new kingdom scribe Ani, prepared for his own afterlife and the amazing text of the afterlife he had prepared for himself. May all the dead of our people be honored by others learning about how much they loved life and wanted it to continue in the next world, and may all of us be drawn together more strongly as we remember them.

Tomorrow I will be reading out the names of all the Akhu enshrined in our national Akhu shrine here at Tawy, all the stars hanging on the walls and the names within our Akhu books. I will give them water and incense and offerings of food and flowers and drinks, in the names of our people who love them. May they all be honored especially at this time and may we all remember that we are never alone even in death. May Sobek-Ra, protector and creator, guard us, and them, as well.

Happy Wag Fest.

Dua Akhu! Dua Sobek-Ra! Nekhtet!

May your coming be peaceful.

God(s) of the Month: Djehuty
Current Decan: 1: Sheta, "Tortoise"
Today's Festival(s):
Feast of Tefnut
Processions of Nebt-het, Aset, Heru-sematawy and Hedjhotep

Say heru em meses nefer (Happy birthday!) to:
Remetj Hernan S. in Argentina

"Cairo Calendar" Entry:
Feast of Tefnut. Do not eat honey or sugarcane on this day. It is the day of going forth of Hedjhotep while all the gods and goddesses are in festivity. Anyone born today will die as an honored one in his old age.

Yet another day of festival is celebrated in honor of our blessed dead, to reconnect us with the ancestors. We honor Tefnut, Original Eye of Ra, the one Who protects. We honor Nebt-het and Aset as the great Mourners, the Ma'ati (Two Truths). Heru-sematawy ("uniter of the two lands") goes out, according to ancient calendars, to "pour ritual water for those who are in the Duat." Hedjhotep, both the White Crown and a form of Tayet Who is over all ritual purity and specifically ritual linens, follows in His train.

As the gods Themselves honor the blessed dead, how could we not follow suit? Reinforce your relationship with your ancestors today and reap the benefits.

Dua Akhu! Dua Tefnut! Dua Nebt-het! Dua Aset! Dua Heru-sematawy! Dua Hedjhotep! Nekhtet!

Pacifying the Hearts of Those Who are in the Horizon
Public Feast of Hethert
Feasts of Khnum and Sobek

Say heru em meses nefer (Happy birthday!) to:
Shemsu-Ankh Ahaenituef in Illinois and Shemsut Tama'atsekhmet in Pennsylvania (12 August)

"Cairo Calendar" Entry:
Feast of Khnum, lord of Senmet; Sobek. Do not eat abdu fish (tilapia); do not walk by darkness.

The horizon, akhet, is the shining place where the Blessed Dead live and contact us from. Today we honor Them with ritual water and offerings, and ask for Their continued presence in our lives for blessing and protection, communication and love.

Make a point of honoring your Akhu today. We will read out the names of all the Akhu in our shrines today and make Their kau live and shine in the horizon. Together our Akhu will stand with us as a mighty nation, strong and blessed, and there will be no difference between us except where we live.

May your mighty dead bless you in the name of Hethert, Mistress of the West; Khnum Who creates the living and the dead; and Sobek Who protects us all.

I love you all very much. Honor to you and to your Akhu from Whom you come!

Dua Akhu! Dua Hethert! Dua Khnum! Dua Sobek! Nekhtet!

May your coming be peaceful.

God(s) of the Month: Djehuty
Current Decan: 1: Sheta, "Tortoise"
Today's Festival(s):
Wep Ronpet Festival (final day) - Kemetic New Year!
Feasts of Djehuty, Hethert, Nebt-het and Nut
Feast of the First Seat of the First Time, Day 10

Say heru em meses nefer (Happy birthday!) to:
Shemsut Tekaensekhmet in South Africa and Shemsut Sekhmetemruwi in England (8 August)
Shemsut Nuwimatwy in Oregon (today)

"Cairo Calendar" Entry:
The feast of Hethert, mistress of Byblos; Nekhtbet the White One of Nekhen; Nut: starting work is a great abomination. Beware of making friendship to a second person. As to anyone whose heart suffers, he will not live. Do not do anything. It is the day of going forth by Hethert together with the executioners in order to approach the riverbank. The gods go contrary upon this day. Do not navigate in boats.

We have celebrated together the birthdays of gods, the Opening of the Year, the blessing of the icons and the people in the first light of Ra. We have banished evil for another year and now we return to our homes to spread the love and community and joy that was gathered in Tawy over the last few days.

So many exciting things are happening. I encourage you to join us on the Forums as we discuss the new year and where it will be taking us, as well as where we intend to go. We are planning on many more offline gatherings this year (with the first two already decided for October 6-8's Eye of Ra Intensive Weekend and our Pilgrimage to Egypt in November -- spaces are still open for both. There will be a Southwest and a Northeast North American gathering, respectively, in the spring that are still in the planning stages. We will be in San Jose, California, in February. Join us, visit with us, and build the nation stronger and stronger!

I love all of you so very much. Right now, I don't have very many braincells left as I'm exhausted but happy, and after I rest some more I will have lots more to say, but at the moment I just want to say thank you to all of our people, whether I saw them over the last few days in person or not. I love each one of you, and I'm glad you're here.

Dua Djehuty! Dua Nebt-het! Dua Hethert! Dua Nut! Nekhtet!

Thought for the Day:
Nekhtet! to:
Neferuhethert of California, who was elevated to Kai-Imakhu priesthood status.

Asetmekti of Minnesota, who has been named Imakhu Wehem-es Mut-es and joins us as our newest Imakhu. She will be using the name Imakhu Mekti.

Mehetibeminpu of Utah, who has been named as an Imy-set'a or Imakhu in training.

Weshebutamunra of Virginia, who was consecrated as a W'abet priest of Amun-Ra.

Seny-setjeni (Senset) of Kansas, who was consecrated as a W'ab priest of Heru-wer and Sekhmet.

Henkuyinepu of Pennsylvania, who was consecrated as a W'ab priest of Yinepu-Wepwawet.

Temensekhmet of Massachusetts, who was consecrated as a W'ab priest of Sekhmet-Hethert.

Khesretitui of Texas, Ushaemnakhtwy of New Jersey, Shefytbast of New Jersey, Djehutymenekh of South Carolina and Pekhtytaweret of California, who all passed Ordeal and became the newest Shemsu-Ankh of Kemetic Orthodoxy.

Tuwerherbastmut of Illinois and Djehutymenekh of South Carolina, who are the two newest trained Fedw diviners in the faith.

We also gave a very special nekhtet! and Dua-Netjer-enetj (thank you) as well as a gift to Merybast, who stepped down from her Kai-Imakhu priesthood to focus on her secular employment for the time being. We are very grateful for the years of service she gave the faith and wish her well in her work, and we are very happy that she will continue on as a senior Shemsu-Ankh in the faith.

"Cairo Calendar" Entry:
The birth of Nebt-het. Words to be said upon it: O Nebt-het, daughter of Nut, sister of Set, She Whose Father sees a healthy daughter, stable of face, stable of face. I am the divine Power in the womb of My mother Nut. The name of this day is 'child Who is in His nest.'

Are you still feeding your Ka?

The fifth and final Day Upon the Year comes, bringing with it She Who is the endless, the border, the transition: Nebt-het, Mistress of the House, Comforter and Mourner, Lady with Wings, the Good Sister to the dead and to the living.

May She bless us as we greet the dawn of the first day of the first time of the first new year: Wep Ronpet, the Opening of the Year, now only a few hours away. As the moon shines brightly over the world, may it bless the sleep of those who will begin celebrating very, very soon, all over the world.

Feast of the First Seat of the First Time, Day 4

Say heru em meses nefer (Happy birthday!) to:
Shemsut Rudjeniheru in Argentina

"Cairo Calendar" Entry:
The birth of Set. Words to be said on it: O Set, Son of Nut, Great of Strength, protection is in the hands of Your holiness. O Set, Son of Nut Who is in front of the Boat of Millions of Years, Whose name is 'How is this land,' may You save me from any bad and evil thing, from any slaughter of this year. The name of this day is Heru, the falcon Who sees the rower.

Are you still feeding your Ka?

Set's day comes and goes with a flash of activity. We meet, do fierce heka to turn back the dangers of the Days Upon the Year, honor our Akhu and prepare for the harder, later days of the Wep Ronpet festival that come before the great rejoicing of Wep Ronpet itself. It seems nothing is moving at its regular speed; rushing and a great movement are the order of the day.

May Set, Great of Strength, give you the courage and the strength to work through the two remaining days before Wep Ronpet and bring all your blessings to reality.

Dua Set! Nekhtet!

Remetj Carla M. in Georgia (today)

"Cairo Calendar" Entry:
The birth of Heru. Words to be said on it: O Heru, Khenty-irety of Khem (Letopolis), it is repeated anew. It will be made. Good protection comes from it. The name of this day is 'Powerful is the Heart.' The name of the day for protecting the limbs is: 'Heru the Bull, Whose Father is not known.' O Heru-wer, mighty of strength, lord of fear, lord of all. Will you save me from any bad and evil things, from any slaughter of this year?

Are you still feeding your Ka?

I send my apologies that Wesir's birthday message did not go out yesterday; we had a power outage and of course it happened right about the time I was to send all of my electronic correspondence. (It seems that it isn't Wep Ronpet without the power going out at least once, over the last several years. We do give thanks, however, that a deadly heat wave in the area has been broken by the storms.)

Today we are within the five Days Upon the Year, the days that belong neither to last year nor next year, holy days for the births of five very special deities. Today's birthday is that of Heru-wer, "Horus the Elder," Whose Two Eyes are the sun and the moon, Whose strong arm protects Kemet. He is the Greatly-Speckled Hawk of Behdet, husband of Hethert and a strong warrior of the faith . May He bless the upcoming year and its festivities.

May each of you have a very special week as the gods draw near.

Dua Heru-wer! Nekhtet!
