Feast of Shemsety
Sekhmet Repels the Shemsu of Set

Shemsety, the "Elder Sister" also known as the goddess Aset, is honored today alongside Sekhmet, goddess of appropriate action, Who fends off the followers of Set (embodied in difficulties and uncomfortable changes in our lives) today.

May it be a day of power and renewal for all and may these two mighty Ladies lend you all the strength and support you need to overcome your challenges and be successful in all things.

I am looking forward to meeting with many of you in our two Shemsu Naming Ceremonies today!

Dua Shemsety! Dua Sekhmet! Nekhtet!

Thought for the Day:
"Beginning today, treat everyone you meet as if they were going to be dead by midnight. Extend them all the care, kindness and understanding you can muster. Your life will never be the same again."

Feast of Sebaka

Sebaka, the planet Mercury, is a symbol of Heru-wer and shines brightly to remind us that we, too, may be victorious even in the face of intense heat.

As you make your daily prayers today and honor the sun, honor also this tiny little planet that crosses so close to oblivion yet still continues to go along its course without destruction.

In Heru-wer's name may you find strength and the staying power that rivals even a planetary orbit.

Dua Heru Sebaka! Nekhtet!

Thought for the Day:

Jubilation of the Year's Beginning
Jubilation of the Full Moon
Renewing the Year/Birth of the Sun
Feasts of Nut, Khenty-khety, Heru, the Nun

The lights of the sky, Heru's Eyes, are both at their brightest and fullest now as we rejoice in the first lunar cycle of our Kemetic New Year, sacred to the god Geb.

We celebrate festivals to the gods of the sky: Nut Who is Sky itself, Khenty-khety the two-eyed sky of the daytime, Heru Who owns the sky, and the Nun from Whom all the celestial beings emerge and return to be reborn in each and every sunrise.

It is a big day, a day of celebration, renewal and rejoicing. May it find you content and may it bring you blessings and peace.

I pray in the names of these very mighty gods that you receive Zep Tepi in full measure.

Dua Geb! Dua Ihy! Dua Aten! Dua Nut! Dua Khenty-khety! Dua Heru! Dua Nun! Nekhtet!

Feast of Tefnut
Processions of Nebt-het, Aset, Heru-sematawy and Hedjhotep

Tefnut, first emanation of the creator, great goddess Who is lifegiving moisture, is celebrated today along with the Ladies of Life, Nebt-het and Aset; the great god Heru Who Unites the Two Lands, and the White Crown of Heru-wer's rulership personified as Hedjhotep.

As we bring offerings and praises to these mighty gods we should be reminded of the power and majesty of life, the life which is a gift to all the creations from the Deities and is precious no matter what or where, no matter who they are, no matter what their skin color or language or religion or age or species.... or any of the other small details that differentiate us from each other.

May the powerful Ones walk into your life and bring peace.

Dua Tefnut! Dua Nebt-het! Dua Aset! Dua Heru-sematawy! Dua Hedjhotep! Nekhtet!

Thought for the Day:

Welcoming the Inundation (Saturday)
Feast of Sobek (Saturday)
Feast of 'Anty (Sunday)

The beginning of our new Kemetic season comes, bringing the lifegiving waters. Even for those of us who no longer live alongside the mighty Nile, the remembrance of our people, living for thousands of years according to that mighty rhythm, is with us, and our lives too swell and become great as we prepare for another season of work and overcoming life's challenges.

May the Nile in the sky, Whose waters touch every land, bring you all the abundance you need for your life and the lives of those about you. May you know the gods exist, are renewed, and are present in your life for protection and blessing. May you know the whole wide world round and your place in it, and find peace for yourself in that place.

As the great gods Sobek and 'Anty bring us protection, the Akhet brings us the lifegiving water. May both be abundant in your life and bring you all joy.

Dua Akhet! Dua Sobek! Dua 'Anty! Nekhtet!

Thought for the Day:

Feast of Heru-Behdety
Feast of Heru-wer
Feast of Hethert
Feast of the First Seat of the First Time, Day 11(final)

Di Wep Ronpet Nofret - May you have a Happy Kemetic New Year!

Finally the guests have gone, the rooms have been (somewhat) cleaned, and Tawy House has become quiet and calm again.

I can't tell you how much I miss everyone already....

However, it was a wonderful Wep Ronpet retreat. About 50 people shared it with us, from little Yebet to our newest Remetj and Shemsu and Shemsu-Ankh. We did ritual together, learned, had fellowship, kissed the face of Ra, destroyed evil, and reaffirmed our commitments to the gods and goddesses and to each other. We laughed, cried and had a great time. Thank you all so very much for being part of our Wep Ronpet this year. See you next year -- or even sooner at our November retreat!

Those of you who were not present were still in my heart and in my thoughts each day, and I apologize that we didn't get to check in with you as much as I would have liked. Next time I think I have worked out some more ways to make that better so you won't be waiting on us to tell you what's going on for days and days. I hope that you, too, had a wonderful Wep Ronpet and that this year, the year of our Father Geb, is tremendous for you.

May each of the gods bless you with their Presence and Their mighty love.

Dua Heru-Behdety! Dua Heru-wer! Dua Hethert! Nekhtet!

Thought for the Day:
We offer a big nekhtet! to:
- Kai-Imakhu Seshagemseger, who was recognized as a Kai-Imakhu after three years of faithful service this year;

- Djebatihethert and Basthabi, who became our two newest W'ab priests;

- Imakhu Meres and Imakhu Sedjemes, who both completed their Honor Guard training as fanbearer and lady-in-waiting, respectively, this year;

- Pegaiyinepu of Wisconsin, who received her Shemsu Name for the first time in front of everybody at Wep Ronpet;

- Nakhtdeshretiu and Asetiunet who were engaged to be married in front of everyone (surprise!) at Wep Ronpet; and

- Our newest (and biggest ever!) class of Shemsu-Ankh: Shemembast, Udenetyinepu, Henkuyinepu, Temensekhmet, Tuwerherbastmut, A'anetamun, Padjaiemweru, Shetawymuti, Sekemisekhmet, Semaretibast, Gemytyinepu, Imyutimuti, Wesiremsebai and Qaitsenu!

Birthday of Aset
Feast of the Dressing, Day 5
Feast of the First Seat of the First Time, Day 5

The Great Goddess Aset, Great of Magic, Mother of Heru, comes among us today and blesses us, silently but meaningfully.

Where will She bless you?

I pray in the name of this very powerful Deity that Her birthday brings your dreams come true.

May you receive Her hand as She stretches it out to you, and take it joyfully. Amazing things await those who take Her hand and do not fear....

Dua Aset! Nekhtet!

Birthday of Set
Feast of the Dressing, Day 4
Feast of the First Seat of the First Time, Day 4

Necessary change is not always something we welcome.

Challenges that make us stronger are not always comfortable.

Set is father to them both, and we praise Him for giving us the ability to change for the better -- and the strength to live through the process.

I pray in the name of the son of Nut, the Red Lord of the desert, that you understand that you don't have to like Him, but you can love Him just the same.

Dua Set! Nekhtet!

Birthday of Heru-wer
Feast of the Dressing, Day 3
Feast of the First Seat of the First Time, Day 3

Mighty Heru-wer's birthday is upon us and we rejoice!

This is a god Who has time and again demonstrated how much He loves our people and especially our children. It is so easy to love Heru-wer, robust and smiling, always laughing at some private joke but never at anyone's expense. Strong, courageous and giving, Heru-wer is always there when we need Him, if only we notice -- because He won't call any attention to Himself.

Give thanks and praise for the Mighty Speckled Hawk, Hero of Netjer!

Dua Heru-wer! Nekhtet!

Birthday of Wesir
Feast of the Dressing, Day 2
Feast of the First Seat of the First Time, Day 2

The first of the Days Upon the Year has arrived, along with the birthday of Wesir, Nisut of the Akhu and ruler of Duat.

May His powerful strong love contain and protect you during the next few days between one Kemetic year and the next.

I pray that you are able to feel His love for you in all facets of your life, and give thanks to this beautiful, serene Deity, Father of all those we love who have gone West as well as the power of potential and growing.

May His Djed pillar of stability rise within you and find you content.
