About
The daily devotions are written by Her Holiness the Nisut (AUS) and include prayers and special practices for the faithful, corresponding to the Kemetic Orthodox calendar.

From 1994-1999, the daily devotions had been available exclusively to followers of the House of Netjer. We share them now with the general public so that all may learn from these enlightening and thought-provoking missives.

Feast of Yinepu

The noble Prince, Yinepu Who Opens Ways, is in festival today.

This is the great god we always honor first in ceremony, He Who guards and guides. To know Yinepu is to be allowed to understand that little part of the workings of the universe that we can contemplate; to love Him is to permit yourself to travel to the places you need to be and to achieve the things you wish to do.

How could we not love this god, and these days of festival?

I pray that Yinepu's messages to you are clear and never forgotten.

Dua Yinepu! Nekhtet!

Feast of Shu and Tefnut (Day 5)
Great Procession and Festival of Wesir
Feast of Yinepu-Wepwawet

The Firstborn of creation continue Their holiday, and we gather the dead together for celebrations under their Nisut and their Guide, making the circle of life from the beginnings to its end complete.

May you celebrate a beautiful holiday, whether you share it with friends or contemplate your ancestors and the great gods on your own.

I pray in the names of these great, great gods that you know how much you are loved.

Dua Shu! Dua Tefnut! Dua Wesir! Dua Yinepu-Wepwawet! Nekhtet!

Feast of Shu and Tefnut (Day 2)
Feast of Djehuty
Saq-Heru

In the quiet rain falling outside my window, I can hear the voices of spirits.

Some of them are the voices of ancestors, being celebrated in this Wag festival week. Others are the voices of the spirits of the water and of nature itself; the trees, stones and plants being touched by the gift of water and life.

Still others are more distant yet more grand: the voices of the gods and goddesses inherent in all of Their creations. Rain is a reflection of Nun, the meeting place of Shu and Tefnut Who are celebrated in these days. The music of creation itself can be heard in the patter of tiny drops.

It never ceases to amaze me, and humble me, that I can comprehend the divine in every single living thing.

Dua to all the divine ones for this understanding.

Dua Shu! Dua Tefnut! Dua Djehuty! Dua Heru! Nekhtet!

Thought for the Day:

Wag Festival
Feast of Shu and Tefnut (Day 1)
Day of Magnifying the Majesty of Heru
Feast of Wesir

Happy Wag Festival! May your Akhu bless you.

On this day when we recognize and praise the Firstborn, Those Who went ahead, we honor the Firstborn God Shu and the Firstborn Goddess Tefnut, without Whom there would be no creation. We also honor the firstborn Nisut, Heru; and the firstborn of the children of Nut, Wesir Who is Nisut of Duat. Praise to all the firstborn, and honor to all those Who are Their children! Nekhtet!

I am pleased to report that some of the Wep Ronpet Retreat photos are starting to appear in our temple photo galleries. Enjoy and keep an eye for further photos to come!

I am also pleased that our Imhotep Kemetic Orthodox Seminary will be releasing its first two publications before the end of August. I'll be sure to post as soon as we have the copies in hand from printing! Nekhtet!

May this great set of festivals as we ring in the Kemetic New Year find you happy, healthy and reflecting upon what sort of year you're going to make of it.

Dua Akhu! Dua Shu! Dua Tefnut! Dua Heru! Dua Wesir! Nekhtet!

Wag Festival Eve
Feast of Sobek-Ra

The first of our major festivals of the new Kemetic year begins Tuesday, the great Wag Festival where we honor our ancestors, the Kemetic version of the Day of the Dead. For today I prepare my lists of Akhu to be named before the great altars of our national shrine, and purchase offerings to take with me to visit the gravestones of my loved ones and to grace their altars here in my home and my temple.

How will you honor those who have gone before you, those who made your path part of this world?

I pray in the name of Sobek-Ra, protecting Father of creation, that each of you is granted a special blessing on this Wag Festival, and that you are given a closer, more beneficial connection with your gods, your spirits and your dead. May each bless your life richly.

Dua Akhu! Dua Sobek-Ra! Nekhtet!

Thought for the Day:

Feasts of Ra, Sobek and Bawy

Great gods are feasted today as we near the Wag festival for our ancestors. We honor Ra the lifegiver; Sobek the life-preserver; and Bawy, the Two Souls of Heru-wer and Set Who both protect and take lives according to what Ma'at requires.

Give thanks for your life today in this new year time, and be happy.

May each of these powerful gods have a message of strength and hope for you as you greet Them in Their festival.

Dua Ra! Dua Sobek! Dua Bawy! Nekhtet!

Feasts of Behdety, Heru-wer and Hethert

Happy Kemetic New Year -- Year 12, the year of Amun-Ra and Sekhmet!

It's wonderful to be back online, to get started with the catching-up process with everyone, and perhaps even to get a little rest after a jam-packed, exciting and really, really successful New Year here in Joliet.

I have to admit I wasn't sure if the building was going to hold up to our capacity crowd...but it did admirably (even if the Inundation came a day early in the second floor bathroom flood, and Set's birthday thunderstorm knocked out power to half our city for 22 hours). Now that the building is empty again I find myself missing the ceremonies, the fellowship, the sounds of people going up and down stairs, the discussions and most of all the laughter as it rang around our hallways. I can't wait for our first Tawy House events to begin at the end of this month, and I hope to see many of you again soon, or to get a chance to meet with those who weren't able to be here last week.

May the gods Who are in festival every day of this very holy month bring you joy, and may the Holy Couple of Heru-wer and Hethert Who guard our state shrine bless you with all abundance in these days of renewal.

Dua Behdety! Dua Heru-wer! Dua Hethert! Nekhtet!

Thought for the Day:
We offer great congratulations (nekhtet!) for the following members of the faith who were honored at Wep Ronpet for special rites of passage:

NEW SHEMSU-ANKH

Weshebutamun, daughter of Amun-Ra and the Nisut (AUS) from Virginia
Nehuenwesir, daughter of Wesir and the Nisut (AUS), from Wisconsin
Seny-setjeni, son of Sekhmet and Heru-wer and the Nisut (AUS), from Kansas

NEW W'AB PRIESTS
Four Shemsu-Ankh fulfilled the oaths and training of the Kemetic Orthodox W'ab priesthood to become full priests of Kemetic Orthodoxy and the servants of their deities and community:
Nakhtdeshretiu, servant of Set and Wepwawet, from Illinois
Biaytsekhmet, servant of Sekhmet, from Illinois
Djedetmiwesir, servant of Wesir, from Utah
Herupaneb, servant of Heru-wer, from California

HONOR GUARD AND LADIES-IN-WAITING
Five Shemsu-Ankh took vows to serve the temple and our Nisut (AUS) as members of Her honor guard organized under Kai-Imakhu Merybast, or ladies-in-waiting organized under Kai-Imakhu Niankhsekhmet:
Sekhmetresut, Honor Guard
Mehetibeminpu, Lady in Waiting
Imakhu Meresinepu, Honor Guard
Khenmetaset, Lady in Waiting
Meteruaset, Honor Guard

We thank all who attended, and all those who could not attend but kept us in your thoughts, prayers and rituals at home, for a very successful Wep Ronpet retreat and offer our best wishes for a spectacular Year 12! Nekhtet!

Day of Wesir (Third Day Upon the Year)

Holy Wesir, lord of growth and potential, rises into birth today. Nekhtet!

The temple here is growing, too. Within a few hours everyone will be gathered for our priesthood's training day, and then the day after that all the rest of the members who will be celebrating Wep Ronpet with us arrive.

It is a very exciting time to open the doors of our nation -- really our own doors this time and not a hotel or a borrowed space! I cannot tell you how grateful, and happy, we all are.

May Wesir touch you with growth on this holy day of His.

Dua Wesir! Nekhtet!

Day of Djehuty (Second Day Upon the Year)

The great god of wisdom Who created the days upon which the gods are about to be born is honored today in the Kemetic Orthodox nation, on this second of this year's unusual seven holy days.

Where wisdom is lacking in your life, make offering to Him and receive it in abundance.

May He speak to you in quiet moments and give you peace.

Dua Djehuty! Nekhtet!

Day of Ra (First Day Upon the Year)

The last day (even including the leap day) of Kemetic Orthodox Year 11 is now behind us, and we enter a time of great intrigue, mystery, power, and promise.

It is a time that can be anything you want it to be. Only your intentions, your attitude, and your wishes will bring you forward or hold you back.

What will the Days Upon the Year bring to you?

Go outside, and give thanks to great Ra, the god to Whom we owe all this wonderful potential. May we not squander His gift to us over the next few days as the opening of the New Year approaches.

Dua Ra! Nekhtet!
