Bless all the children of Netjer, known and unknown! Holiday of the Temple of Ptah-Sokar, Day 2 Dua Ptah-Sokar! Nekhtet! As we complete the Kemetic year, I ask for your prayers for the family of our Panehemensekhmet, who died unexpectedly after surgery complications sometime early Friday. His family has been in touch with us and we will share more news as it is available, but all accounts indicate he passed to the West in his sleep. Panehem was 27 and will be missed by many. In life he was not only a Shemsu of Kemet, but he was also a lay monk in Vajrayana Buddhism under the name Pema Ledrub, "the lotus of good accomplishments," a Reiki healer and teacher and a writer. May he pass unhindered along the good paths of the West accompanied by Yinepu-Wepwawet, may his loved ones be comforted by Nebt-het the Good Sister, and may he come eventually, justified, before Wesir in His Western kingdom, as a fully invested Akh. I pray for Panehem and for each of you. May you all be blessed, may you all be peaceful, and may you all be happy and healthy as we begin the time of the year's turning.

Bless all the children of Netjer, known and unknown! Yesterday, the icons of the gods and goddesses would have set out from Their homes to head for the Wep Ronpet festivals at Kemet's capital. Here, our icons have all arrived, but we will be witnessing the convergence of more than 45 of our members from as close as the next neighborhood and as far away as New Zealand, for Wep Ronpet retreat week! Those members who can't arrive have started to send greetings in the form of letters and postcards that are quickly filling up our bulletin boards. It's almost that time again! I hope that you are getting excited also, whether you will be here with us for the celebrations or will be celebrating Kemetic New Year at home. It's a very important and wonderful time of year. May all our members journey safely for Wep Ronpet no matter where they are going, and may the last few days of this year remain happy and healthy. Dua Netjer! Nekhtet!

Bless all the children of Netjer, known and unknown! Take a minute today to immerse yourself in peace and quiet. If you can spare more than a minute...do so. Use this time to clear your mind and leave yourself open to the blessing of the gods and goddesses. Breathe in and out slowly and meaningfully, contemplating the breath as the life exchange, the ankh held to our nose by Divinity, the power of the gods to refresh and rejuvenate. Give thanks for this blessing of the breath of life. Do this any time that you can, and find renewed peace and purpose within. Dua Netjer! Nekhtet!

Bless all the children of Netjer, known and unknown! We enter the last few days before the end of the Kemetic Year, and some of us are noticing the natural progression of the year's age. For some of us this translates in a general sense of something being slightly off in the world; an upsurge in mistakes and misunderstandings, even a general sense of more violence or more anger or more uncomfortable things in our universe. This does happen every year, and I want to assure all of you who have written me asking "is it worse this year than it's ever been?" that people wrote me the same thing last year. Last year, though, they started in early June, so this year does actually seem to be better in that the complaining about the End-of-Year-Freakout, as I've affectionately termed it, started far later than previously. While the year is ending and thus we are coming to another Zep Tepi, this does not mean it is the end of the world. This is a cycle; it's a cycle we've lived through for every year of our lives and our ancestors have lived through back and back and back to the beginning of time. Zep Tepi comes every day as well as on the Opening of the Year. There is always a new beginning, and there's always a little discomfort at the beginning of things. Be ready for what is coming ahead, try not to give yourself over to too much anxiety about the fact that you might be able to sense change a little more strongly than usual -- for truly, the only things that do not feel change are dead -- and be confident that like Ra, you shall rise glorious in the morning. After all, Zep Tepi is just another day, and we've done it a million times before. What's one more? I pray in the name of Khepera, Whose very name means "becoming," that you understand His process as the gift that it truly can be at this strange and unpredictable time. Dua Netjer! Nekhtet!

Bless all the children of Netjer, known and unknown! Feast of Yinepu Give special offerings, praise and prayers to Yinepu today. The great god Who guides, protects and opens our ways, He Who is always prayed to first....He Who enables us to communicate with all the spirits, the dead and the gods, is in festival today. I ask Him to show you something wonderful, in a dream or a vision, a random comment or encounter. Be aware of His Presence today and open for His message. What He has to say is always important. May He bless you and bring you something very useful! Dua Yinepu! Nekhtet!

Tepy-Semdet (Full Moon Festival) As we clean out the shrines in preparation for Wep Ronpet, the excitement is building. Even the icons and the shrine furniture seem to know that something very exciting is about to happen. Are you ready for Kemetic New Year? Start giving some thoughts to your new year's resolutions and how you will celebrate the holiest of our holidays, whether that's here with us during the Wep Ronpet retreat week, or at home with your friends and loved ones. We'd love to hear your Wep Ronpet ideas on the Forums! May Mut, the great Lady of the Two Lands, and the gods and goddesses of the starry heavens shine upon you today. Dua Mut! Dua Netjer! Nekhtet!

Bless all the children of Netjer, known and unknown! As we continue in our march toward Wep Ronpet, things are stirred up. We begin to reflect upon the year past, on our goals and whether or not we met them; on our challenges and whether or not we rose to them. Do not let anxiety about lost goals or missed challenges bring you down. There is a Zep Tepi every day. Our faith is formed in the conception of the cycle: if you didn't get it today, you'll get another chance. There is always one more chance, one more opportunity, one more opened door -- if you allow yourself that opportunity. Take charge of your life today and march into a Zep Tepi of your own making. Dua Netjer! Nekhtet!

Bless all the children of Netjer, known and unknown! Make time for Netjer, and for yourself, today. Spend some time in your shrine with your Akhu and your gods and goddesses. They always love to see you, and They never miss an opportunity to teach or bless. Use this day as a recharger, a time to prepare yourself better for the end of the year and the birthdays of the gods. Make it a special holiday, just for today. I pray in the names of the gods and goddesses we love that you have a productive meditation. Dua Netjer! Nekhtet!

Feast of the Half Month Half a month remains before Wep Ronpet. Things are very busy (and very exciting) around the temple; in addition to our purchase of eight new bed mattresses that should make our guests much more comfortable than their very hard predecessors, we have received a Wep Ronpet gift early: a very nice refrigerator to replace the one that came with the building (one that was nearly 25 years old and not working very well). In addition, not one, but two portable air conditioners are being supplied as part of that fundraiser to make our temple and adjacent library room bearable in the summer heat. What a wonderful, wonderful surprise! I give great thanks to everyone who took part in this New Year's gift fundraiser. Thank you very much for a gift that not only looks nice, but will be very useful for our residents and guests for many years to come! Today we have a feast for Heru-wer as the uniter of peoples, and a ritual appearance of the god Ra, as He goes forth to give offerings to the Nun, source of creation. May peace and prosperity be Their gifts to you, and may these gifts be spread by you to the entire world. I pray in the name of these two falcons that you soar high and victorious. Dua Heru-Mau! Dua Ra! Nekhtet!

Bless all the children of Netjer, known and unknown! Defending Heru-sa-Aset, Day 2 The Lords of Ma'at complete Their contendings today. Heru-sa-Aset is confirmed as the ruling power, and is fully tested at Set's hands, coming out victorious. Give thanks for those "tests" and challenges you have passed in your life. Give thanks for the opportunity to test your mettle against them, and for the learning you have received in achievement. Both Heru-sa-Aset and Set are important. While "Heru always wins" when it comes to the Contendings...He'd have nothing to win if Set didn't put Him through His paces. Power is earned, and it is earned at the hands of hard work and challenge. Do not deny Set His place in the scheme of things just because challenges can be difficult and hard work can be suffocating. It is all part of the necessary scheme of things, of Ma'at and of life. I pray in the name of these two great gods that you receive your victories, and the wisdom to know that the challenges you faced in making them was both useful and good. Dua Heru-sa-Aset! Dua Set! Nekhtet!

Bless all the children of Netjer, known and unknown! Defending Heru-sa-Aset, Day 1 Ritual reenactment of the contendings of Heru-sa-Aset and His uncle, Set, is made today. We give thanks for the demonstration that leadership can and should be tested, that a true leader must not be afraid to struggle to achieve. We give thanks that even the gods understand the idea that things must change, and that while change can be very difficult, if it is necessary its end result will always bring something good. May we have the courage of Heru-sa-Aset to continue on in the face of any challenge, armed with the knowledge we are making the right decisions. May we have the strength of Set to challenge our decisions, to realize that we might not be right in all things just because we feel that we are, and may we be willing to accept His lessons as we continue forward to victory. May both these gods, the powerful contenders, bless us and bring us to achievement. Dua Heru-sa-Aset! Dua Set! Nekhtet!

Bless all the children of Netjer, known and unknown! There is a special power in forgiveness. Its most special power is the effect is has not on the person being forgiven, but on the person doing the forgiving. And, if the person is forgiving oneself....its power is sublime indeed. Invite the power of forgiveness into your life today. Give thanks for this great gift of the gods and goddesses. Dua Netjer! Nekhtet!

"The Eye of Ra Enters the Horizon" This evening, we say special prayers and leave offering for Ra-Heruakhety, He Who rides the sky in the Boat of Millions of Years, the god behind the dazzling visible sun. He shines for everyone, and thus brings them life. This great god, our creator, our Father, deserves our praise and offering. He is wondrous to know, powerful, and protective. May you feel His warmth as the sunshine, and His compassion as bright as the day. Dua Ra-Heruakhety! Nekhtet!

First Day of the Kemetic Month (2nd) The festival candles are bright, and the little paper boats are floating on the water. Each carries a prayer in silent procession to Aset, Mother of God, on this Her Luminous weekend. Here at Tawy House, I shared this festival with two Kai-Imakhu, an Imakhu and a W'ab, a new Shemsu and two new Remetj, one travelling with her mother. We shared it singing, making the prayer boats and then placing them in the waters, sharing food and fellowship. It has been a powerful time and we have shared much. May the great Lady shine from your shrines on this holy weekend as well. May She receive all the prayers of Her faithful and may She bless us all. Dua Heru-wer! Dua Hethert! Dua Unnefer! Dua Min! Dua Tasenetnofret! Dua Aset Mut Netjer! Nekhtet!
