About
The daily devotions are written by Her Holiness the Nisut (AUS) and include prayers and special practices for the faithful, corresponding to the Kemetic Orthodox calendar.

From 1994-1999, the daily devotions had been available exclusively to followers of the House of Netjer. We share them now with the general public so that all may learn from these enlightening and thought-provoking missives.

As the Nisut (AUS) is currently traveling abroad, the Daily Devotions have been put on hold until Her return (which will be just before the Kemetic New Year, in the beginning of August). As we approach this time of renewal, I encourage you to pause and look back on the months gone by as well as consider the new year to come. This is a time when the world is revived, refreshed and made new once again -- which means you may be, too.

Bless all the children of Netjer, known and unknown!
May your coming be peaceful.

Today we Pour Water for Those Who are in the Next World. Make a special offering for your Akhu today. Consider adding one to our Virtual Ancestor Shrine. Remember those who remember you.

I pray to Wesir, Nisut of the Akhu, that all of His subjects are content, blessed and in touch with Their sons and daughters, anywhere, today and always.

Dua Akhu! Dua Netjer! Nekhtet!

Thought for the Day:
"We are the ones we have been waiting for."

May your coming be peaceful.

Today in addition to the Half-Month festival we honor Harmau ("Heru the uniter") and Ra. It is a day to think about leaders and leadership and how they bring us together.

Give thanks to your Akhu and Sebau (ancestors and teachers) for Their participation in leadership in your life; most of us would not be where we are without Their continued attention and guidance. In the name of the Uniter I pray that all differences be put aside for the greater gifts of Ma'at and that all find their unity in service and love.

Dua Harmau! Dua Ra! Nekhtet!

May your coming be peaceful.

We have no special practices today. Use the time to pray for special requests for your family and loved ones; to remember your ancestors; and to prepare for the highest of our holy days soon to come.

What sorts of things are you doing to further Ma'at in this last month of our Kemetic year? I'd love to read about them on our boards!

Dua Netjer! Nekhtet!

Thought for the Day:
"The highest goodness is like water.
Water benefits all things and does not compete.
It stays in the lowly places which others despise.
Therefore it is near The Eternal."

Two special holidays: Jubilation in the Entire Land and The Day of Defending Heru-sa-Aset. Have a great time celebrating victories and the end of the year!

We had a wonderful time adding three new Shemsu to our official roster of those with Kemetic Names on Wednesday evening as part of our biweekly Dua service.

Jonetta of Washington state is now Taihyeninpu;
Bonnie also of Washington is now Tashenutnit; and
Enrique of California is now known as Asetremeni.

Nekhtet! to all three of them and may Netjer bless them richly in their new lives as Shemsu!

Dua Netjer! Nekhtet!

Thought for the Day:
"The best thing to give to your enemy is forgiveness; to an opponent, tolerance; to a friend, your heart; to your child, a good example; to a father, deference; to your mother, conduct that will make her proud of you; to yourself, respect; to all men, charity."

May your coming be peaceful.

This time of year has less holidays per capita than the rest of our year (usually we have a festival of some sort every day); but the ones that do fall during it, are bigger and more lasting. It's probably also the way the ancients assured we'd have enough time to prepare for Kemetic New Year coming up!

During your busy month take some time to "come up for air" and spend quiet time in your shrine just being thankful and open to the blessing of any god or goddess. You may be surprised at the results!

Looking forward to seeing many of you at our biweekly Dua tonight as we give Kemetic Names to more Shemsu!

Dua Netjer! Nekhtet!

Today at sunset we make a special ceremony for Ra and His Eye. Pray for illumination during times of shadow.

There are times when everyone feels that the sun has left them (and it's not just nighttime, either). What are your strategies for "finding your way back to daylight?" How do you find hope when all hope seems to have headed for the Horizon?

I pray to Ra that He shed His brilliant light upon you today and always.

Dua Ra! Nekhtet!

We have no special practices save one: to honor the "spiritual birthday," or ordination anniversary, of Kai-Imakhu Niwt-itw Nakhtdeshretiu, priest of Set and Wepwawet. Six years ago this evening he undertook vows that would change his life in ways none of us could have imagined back then, when our faith consisted only of a handful of people gathering in houses in Chicago, to our 16 countries and growing, and many more priests and devotees today.

I am honored that Nakht is here with us, and looking forward to his continued growth into his experience as Netjer's servant to other servants, as someone who lives life as richly as he loves God. Please join me today in thanking his Fathers, and him, for being a part of our religion and our family.

Dua Netjer! Nekhtet!

The ancients built in some free time between one set of major festivals and the next; currently we're enjoying that period of "no special practices" with the ability to enjoy our usual relationships in shrine and in the world at large. (We're also, at least in my house, running around like mad preparing for New Year and my Haiti trip this month!) How exciting can things get?

Since it is a weekend and in the Western world weekends are supposedly synonymous with rest and relaxation, do try to make some time just for yourselves. Spend some hours just taking in Netjer's creation. How can you serve by being served?

Dua Netjer! Nekhtet!
