Feast of Mut We celebrate the Lady and Lord of Waset (ancient Thebes, modern Luxor) today. Great Amun-Ra, Lord of the Thrones of the Two Lands, and His Golden Lady, Mut, She of the Crowns, are given great festivity in our shrines as the Kemetic month ends. The feast of light continues until we encounter the beautiful Aset Luminous festival this weekend. May your altars shine brightly with love for the gods and goddesses and for the Great Ones of Waset. Dua Mut! Dua Amun-Ra Nisut Netjeru! Nekhtet!

Heb-Sed Festival Sopdet makes an appearance, reminding us that the coming of a new Kemetic Year is only 35 days away. Nekhtet! The festival known as Heb-Sed, honoring kingship and the kingly ka, has come. I will be spending more time than usual in the shrine, not only in rededicating myself to your service, but also in preparation for the Aset Luminous celebrations to be held here at Truth and the Mother Temple this coming weekend. The first feast of the end of the year has come, and now we enter the time leading up to Wep Ronpet in earnest. Are you ready for a new year? May the gods and goddesses of this holy time of year bless you and everyone you love. Dua Sopdet! Nekhtet!

Bless all the children of Netjer, known and unknown! On the eve of the time usually set aside for a king's Heb-Sed, I am thoughtful. This year is not a particular jubilee year for me (that will be next year, with the tenth anniversary of my coronation in November), but each year I use this time as useful meditation, to remind myself of the promises I made to Netjer and to each of you, and to do my best to rededicate myself to fulfilling them all. Yesterday I received the final corrected proofs for a book about to be published, and I am now hopeful we'll see it out at or before Kemetic New Year. This is a very exciting thing for me as I started writing it as early as 2001 and have been working with the publishers for nearly two years to get it to print. Nekhtet for long-term projects finally coming to fruition! (I'll have more to share when I know more, but I do know this was the final proof). This summer, and into this autumn, many exciting new things and projects will be coming out of our Seminary and out of my office as pieces of knowledge to edify the faith. It's been a long time in the works and I'm excited and pleased with everything. I hope you will be, too. Today, however, I give myself completely to Netjer, that these things will continue to become and become and become. May They accept our offerings and keep us blessed. Dua Netjer! Nekhtet!

Bless all the children of Netjer, known and unknown! You are responsible. You are responsible for the change you wish to occur in your world. Even if you cannot control a thing, you can control your response to that thing. Choosing not to choose...is also a choice. The next time you are tempted to throw away your freedom of choice and walk away from something rather than use your power of responsibility to change it into what it could be...stop. These things, these losses of power, are also choices, and they are the kinds of choices that diminish rather than grow. Choose to grow. Dua Netjer! Nekhtet!

Feast of Hethert, Eye of Ra (Day of the Eye's Escape) Zep Tepi is restored through the treading of fishes and the planting for future fertility. The Crook, symbol of the duty of a Nisut to protect and shelter his or her people, is grasped and the responsibility is taken up for yet another year. Khnum is now celebrated as Khnum-Ra, the visible creator in the form of the shining sun. That sun is also the Eye of Ra, returned to us on this day of Solstice, the day She returns to Kemet. Our southern-hemisphere members are celebrating Her furthest point away, now that She will return; we in the northern hemisphere are readying ourselves for the understanding that yet again, She will wander from us as part of the celestial cycle of being. The year turns, and the Eye wanders. Nekhtet for the cycle that keeps us all alive. I pray in the name of the mighty gods of creation celebrated on this day that you are well, whole, and at peace. Dua Hethert! Dua Heru-Behdety! Dua Khnum-Ra! Nekhtet!

End of the Beautiful Reunion As the Beautiful Reunion comes to a close while the moon widens to its fullest, we carry out what might seem to be a curious ritual to those of us who are not farmers. Dried fish are placed on the ground and stomped on by the Nisut to symbolize the destruction of Isfet, and then the fishes are buried in the ground to provide nutrients for next year's planting season. We remember the cycle of life today and give thanks for our Zep Tepi victories, today and every day. In giving life to the earth, we give life to ourselves in return and keep the cycle moving. Khnum is celebrated today, too, that creator Who gives us our shape and form, from the dirt of that same fertile earth. May you be conscious of your place in the great circle of life today, and may you know that all the gods and goddesses are always with you within it. Dua Hethert! Dua Heru-Behdety! Dua Khnum! Nekhtet!

Feast of the Beautiful Reunion, Day 13: We come nearer and nearer to the summer solstice, the day the Eye of Ra returns to Kemet and the longest day of our year. As the Eye returns, Ra goes out along with the Happy Couple, Heru and Hethert in Their Reunion rites, to visit with the Akhu. As a king, Ra goes to meet with another king -- Wesir Unnefer, the lord of the Unseen World. When Wesir and Ra are united, balance is restored between the two kingdoms and all the people of both can rejoice. May you find peace and plenty under the Reunited Sun. Dua Hethert! Dua Heru-Behdety! Dua Ra! Dua Wesir Unnefer! Nekhtet!

Feast of the Beautiful Reunion, Day 10 Eat cucumbers today in honor of Sekhmet, that They might cool Her anger at wrongdoing and encourage Her to share Her healing power with all, especially pregnant women, the unborn and the newly-born. May the Red Lady, Mistress of the Blood-Red Garments, lend Her protection and power to each of you, whether you need it or not, and may you all feel Her presence daily. Dua Hethert! Dua Heru-Behdety! Dua Sekhmet! Nekhtet!

Feast of the Beautiful Reunion, Day 9 We have reached and passed the halfway point of the Reunion Festival. Heru and Hethert stand together draped in flowers upon the altars of the land, Their love manifest for all to rejoice in. They go to visit the Akhu, and even the dead can partake in Their joyous honeymoon. Aset is betrothed to Wesir; Ihy, the Heru Who unites the Two Lands, is born to Hethert again, and the cycles of love, marriage, birth and death are complete. It is a time of eternal Zep Tepi, the creation and rejuvenation of love. Today as part of the Reunion Rites, we honor Nit the Creatrix of All, and Bast in Her manifestation as Nebet Ankh-tawy, the Lady of the Life of the Two Lands (Life of the Two Lands being also the name of the necropolis at Mennefer, or Memphis). May these two Ladies add Their protection and blessing to the celebrations as well. I pray in the names of all these gods and goddesses that you are joyful and content. Dua Hethert! Dua Heru-Behdety! Dua Nit! Dua Bast! Nekhtet!

In the quiet of your shrine today, think about the connection between all living things and their Creators. How are you connected to the Creator? to Creation? How does knowledge of this connection change your life? (Is it something you should remind yourself of more often?) May you know your place within the universe and find it to be a source of power. The altars smell of the perfume of white, pink and red flowers, plants and the sweetest of all sweet things. All gods and all people rejoice as this time of great love and joy comes to us again. How will you celebrate your festival? We'd love to hear about it on the boards! May you receive love in your heart each day of the feast, and give thanks for it each night. Dua Hethert! Pesdjentiu (New Moon Festival) Happy Feast of the Beautiful Reunion! Hethert begins Her journey upstream to Heru-Behdety's home town, for Their marriage feast. Love is being celebrated in all its forms, especially love and fertility. May the Golden Couple bless each of you in your personal relationships, a million times! As the moon journeys to its fullest stage, the Reunion festival will continue. I hope to hear all about your celebrations at home as I share the rituals here. Today, we take the icons of the two gods out of their shrines and stand them at opposite sides of the main altar in the Truth and the Mother shrine, to be united as Their time comes in the ritual. May you know how much you are loved. Dua Hethert! Dua Heru-Behdety! Nekhtet!

Feast of Khnum-Ra As we celebrate the Creator, Heka, or magic, is born, and magic is used to create life from death: the conception of Heru-sa-Aset by the supreme act of sacrifice between Aset and Wesir is complete. Dua Netjer indeed! It is a very special event, the creation of a god once Creation is already established. This special god went on to give a piece of Himself to creation in the form of the Kingly Ka, and continued the tradition, passing on the spark of magic from its source, the secret name of Ra gained by Aset's ambition. As Heka moves through your lives, may you notice Him and welcome Him fully. The results should be awesome. Dua Khnum-Ra! Dua Heka! Dua Heru-sa-Aset! Nekhtet!

Bless all the children of Netjer, known and unknown! The peonies in the yard bloomed this weekend, and W'abet Sekhmetresut surprised me by cutting some of the blooms yesterday while I was out of the building and spreading beautiful white and pink flowers all over the Truth and the Mother temple. The aroma of the fresh blooms is mixing with the incense and candles and making the entire second floor of the Tawy building seem even more inviting than usual. I'll see if we can't get some photos together for the Daily Ma'at gallery before we have to take them off the shrines. It's really quite beautiful. Every day as I say my prayers for each of you, I hold you in my heart. I hope that all of you will one day get to come to this place and share prayer time with me. There's something very special about this center, this heart of our faith, this home of ours. May all the gods of this month rejoice and may all the gods in our shrines be satisfied with Their offerings. Dua Netjer! Nekhtet!

First Day of the Kemetic Month We enter a new month, dedicated to creation, and honor creative gods including Min, Khnum and Ipet-Hemet (also known as Taweret). The month itself is named for and sacred to Wadjet, purifying flame, Eye of Ra Who sits on His forehead and the head of all royal regalia to serve and protect. Make offerings this month that your creative efforts multiply and make even more blessings for you as the month continues and the celebrations of love and togetherness begin. May these great gods give you all you need...and then some. Dua Wadjet! Dua Heru! Dua Min! Dua Khnum! Dua Ipet-Hemet! Nekhtet!

Last Day of the Kemetic Month I apologize for being offline from devotions yesterday. I was observing the 70 days' rituals for my grandmother, Halo Myers, Who has now become Akh and has passed to the Beautiful West in truth. Nekhtet! Today, we end the second month of Shomu with a ritual reminder of our pending Summer Solstice. Shu and Djehuty are heading south in search of the Wandering Goddess (the sun that has gotten so far away from us in the northern hemisphere sky), and intend to encourage Her return to us later in the month. We're also preparing for the Feast of the Beautiful Reunion to begin with the New Moon on June 6. It will be a month of happy celebrations honoring harvest, love and joy. Join with us! May the great, stable earth and the god Whose words are wisdom itself guard and guide you today as They placate all anger in the name of Ma'at. Dua Ra! Dua Heru! Dua Wesir! Dua Shu! Dua Djehuty! Dua Sekhmet-Hethert! Nekhtet!
