About
The daily devotions are written by Her Holiness the Nisut (AUS) and include prayers and special practices for the faithful, corresponding to the Kemetic Orthodox calendar.

From 1994-1999, the daily devotions had been available exclusively to followers of the House of Netjer. We share them now with the general public so that all may learn from these enlightening and thought-provoking missives.

(Year 13, Paeninet 24-25 - II Shomu 24-25)

Bless all the children of Netjer, known and unknown!
May your coming be peaceful.

God(s) of the Month: Heru-sa-Aset
Current Decan: 30: A'arety, "the two jaws"
Today's Festival(s):
Pesdjentiu (New Moon Festival), (Saturday)
Beautiful Feast of the Valley, Days 1-2

Say heru em meses nefer (Happy birthday!) to: Shemsu Waenyinepu in Kentucky (Saturday)

"Cairo Calendar" Entry:
If you see anything today, it will be good. (Saturday) The Akhet eye, everything and everyone is at peace. It is pleasant to the gods and to Ra. (Sunday)

Are you still feeding your Ka?

The Beautiful Feast of the Valley is here, and we are celebrating in high style. We've already visited seven local cemeteries and honored the Akhu there, and more are planned over the rest of the Valley Festival as we honor the blessed dead alongside the gods of Uaset.

What will you do to honor your dead? Here in the US the Valley feast is coinciding with a major holiday in honor of war dead, and we've been encountering many people in the cemeteries planting flowers, leaving offerings and visiting with their loved ones in the Beautiful West. It's very nice to see these normally empty places buzzing with activity and celebration. Celebrate the Kemetic equivalent of "Dia de los Muertos" with us -- even if our day of the dead lasts more than a week!

Share your stories with us on the forums if you wish and may you have a wonderful festival.

Dua Akhu! Nekhtet!

Thought for the Day:
" It would be more honorable to our distinguished ancestors to praise them in words less, but in deeds to imitate them more."
Horace Mann

Today's Festival(s):
no special festivals today

Say heru em meses nefer (Happy birthday!) to: W'ab Nakhtdeshretiu in Illinois (Tuesday 23rd); Shemsut Senushemi in Nevada and Remetj Jennifer L.-C. in Massachusetts (Wednesday 24th)

"Cairo Calendar" Entry:
Disturbance below and uproar of the gods of the keri-shrines on this day when Shu was complaining to Ra about the eternal great ones. Do not go out on it.

Are you still feeding your Ka?

A strange entry in the Cairo Calendar suggests that even gods aren't always happy.

So why do you punish yourself if you aren't content all the time?

Life is never constant. One of the gifts of Ma'at to our universe is change.

We can use Her gift as we please, for good for for ill, for happiness or for other things.

What will you choose when given the opportunity?

How can you maximize your happiness so you're not feeling guilty about things?

Dua Netjer! Nekhtet!

Thought for the Day:
"If there were in the world today any large number of people who desired their own happiness more than they desired the unhappiness of others, we could have paradise in a few years."
Bertrand Russell

"Cairo Calendar" Entry:
The Great Nine sail; They are numerous in the entire land. If any lion is seen, he will die immediately. It is the day of the judging of the Great Ones.

Are you still feeding your Ka?

The Great Nine: Shu, Tefnut, Geb, Nut, Wesir, Heru-wer, Set, Aset and Nebt-het, are wandering the earth today, judging and giving messages to those judged.

What will They say to you? (What have They said to you?)

Give thanks for Their wisdom, and listen to it.

The gods do not speak loudly very often. Consider Their communication, in whatever form it comes, to be a great blessing, and be grateful for Their sharing of it.

May They bring you good news, love, and support in this time of growing and changing.

Dua Heru! Dua Pesdjet-wer! Nekhtet!

Thought for the Day:

"Cairo Calendar" Entry:
...great things [come from] him today. If you see anything, it will be good.

Are you still feeding your Ka?

With the beginning of the new moon a festival of Heru-wer came, honoring His victory over all that is wrong in the world.

What can He vanquish for you? Be sure to ask for His protection and blessing during this holy time.

At this time we're also doing a lot of things here at Tawy. Last week we had an excellent Naming Ceremony (see below), attended by more than 40 people. This month two intensives are scheduled here at Tawy House and more work-study, as well as festivals befitting the end of the Kemetic year. Signups for the November trip to Egypt are coming in, as are a record number of attendance forms for our huge week-long Wep Ronpet ceremonies in August. I'm really excited to know that we'll be seeing so many of you in just over eight weeks!

In the Great Name of Heru, victorious in Khadi, may you find blessing, peace, and the fierce love that only this god can bring.

Dua Heru-wer! Dua Heka! Dua Hethert! Dua Ihy! Nekhtet!
