Bless all the children of Netjer, known and unknown! Feast of Purification In our last devotion I shared a purifying breath technique that should serve you well as you perform the Feast of Purification today. Ma'at is celebrated in our lives and our shrines with a thorough cleansing, physical, mental and spiritual. As you clean your shrine and the things in your shrine, how does this reflect Ma'at in the world? How does purifying yourself in all ways create Ma'at in your life and offer Her to the universe? May your purifications on this day be the sacred offering before all the gods, and may you be found twice pure, before all gods, every day. Dua Ma'at! Nekhtet!

Bless all the children of Netjer, known and unknown! Try a little experiment in your shrine today. When you sit in front of the closed shrine, take in a deep, deep breath. Hold the breath to the slow count of four. Exhale slowly, imagining all impurities, all sickness, all negative thoughts, all hatred, all selfishness, all jealousness -- in short, everything that does not serve Ma'at in your life -- leaving your body through that cleansing breath. Take in another breath slowly, imaginging that it is filled with tiny specks of golden light from your shrine, the light of the god(s) within. Do this until you feel you are ready to continue your worship session. How are things different? Feel free to share in the Forums, or mail me to share on the Daily Ma'at list! Dua Netjer! Nekhtet!

Bless all the children of Netjer, known and unknown! On the Daily Ma'at list, we are finishing up our discussions and meditations on the god Khonsu. Some interesting letters have been coming to me about dreams and other things we've experienced as a group. May Khonsu continue to bless us throughout the rest of the year. Khonsu represents for us a protective power: the hidden power of the heart (mind in non-Kemetic parlance) to heal itself and return itself to a state of purity. Khonsu is a "magician" in that He causes changes in accordance with His wishes: He does what He says He will do and He makes things happen according to His commands. What is He commanding for you? (What would you like Him to command for you?) I pray in the name of this powerful and loving god that you feel His command and blessing in your life every day. Dua Khonsu! Nekhtet!

Bless all the children of Netjer, known and unknown! Day of the Living Children of Nut The gods of the Days Upon the Year, the children of Nut, are celebrated today. We honor Wesir, Heru-wer, Set, Aset and Nebt-het, Who give us each new year safely delivered from Their special time. Many of Their children in the world will be celebrating in special ways today. How will you honor this festival? As the Great Five are given celebration, may They also give each of you great blessings. I pray in Their names that this is a wonderful day for each of you, filled with promise and excitement. Dua Wesir! Dua Heru-wer! Dua Set! Dua Aset! Dua Nebt-het! Nekhtet!

Bless all the children of Netjer, known and unknown! "The Ennead sails repeatedly on the day of Judging of the Great Ones" The gods are everywhere. They're always everywhere, but this weekend, our holiday calendar tells us that They are particularly active, going about to be present in all of our lives. Where will They find you? What will you be doing? What will you be saying or thinking? What will They have to say to you? Share your Netjer encounters in our boards if you wish! Dua Netjeru nebu! Nekhtet!

Bless all the children of Netjer, known and unknown! There are some things you can never say enough. "Thanks," "I'm proud of you," or even "I love you" are phrases that don't come out of our mouths often enough. When was the last time you could have said one (or all) of these things to someone, and you didn't? Make up for it today. Make it a day where you say what you mean, you offer your gratitude where it should be offered, and you tell people you love them, early and often. Make it a day filled with good words that can't ever be heard enough. I love all of you, very much. Dua Netjer! Nekhtet!

Bless all the children of Netjer, known and unknown! The offerings and vases upon vases of flowers are still standing on our special altar for Nebt-het and Serqet after our weekend gathering here at Tawy. Some flowers also adorn the other altars of the Truth and the Mother shrine, and it's happier in there than it's been in some time, reminding us that the Shomu is continuing and soon, before we know it, it'll be time to celebrate Wep Ronpet with many more of the faithful. It's an exciting time and a very busy one for my office. There are trips in the offing, celebrations to plan, and renovations to continue at the temple, along with the usual festivities of II Shomu and our everyday work. Work-study opportunities should continue through June; contact my office if you are a Shemsu or Remetj and interested in such a possibility. (After June 30, we will not host any work-study due to preparations for Wep Ronpet; these will resume after mid-August). Our seminary's research archives has recently been expanded with a good number of books, papers and photographic slides from the Frank Joseph Yurco Memorial Collection and so there are many more things to do research with if that is your interest! Make a special moment today to give thanks to your gods and your ancestors for the Beautiful Valley festival just closing, and to ask Their blessing on the coming days left in our Kemetic year. Dua Netjer! Nekhtet!

Bless all the children of Netjer, known and unknown! Beautiful Feast of the Valley, Day 10 The shrines are all decorated and the great ladies Nebt-het and Serqet are seated in our Healing Shrine to oversee our weekend of learning about purification from a mental and spiritual standpoint. I'm very excited to be hosting people from across the country as part of our intensive and will check in as much as I can. The camera's even been charged up so we should have photos to share when it's over! Take time today while honoring your Akhu as part of the Beautiful Valley festival to consider the grief process -- how does it act as a purification for you as well as for them? Thoughts to ponder and perhaps discuss on the boards... Dua Amun-Ra! Dua Mut! Dua Khonsu! Dua Akhu! Nekhtet!

Beautiful Feast of the Valley, Day 9 The statues of Amun-Ra, Mut and Khonsu stand upon the Truth and the Mother altar, nestled amidst candles and incense, giving Their blessing and presence to the blessed dead we honor in these days of the Valley Festival. Sometime this weekend I intend to take the attendees of our Serqet and Nebt-het weekend to a few of the local cemeteries, to walk amongst the Akhu and gain Their wisdom. May you too, wherever you are, walk amongst the Akhu and learn from Them everything you need to know. Dua Amun-Ra! Dua Mut! Dua Khonsu! Dua Akhu! Dua Hethert! Dua Ihy! Nekhtet!

Holiday of Ra and His Shemsu Ra and His Shemsu enter into the holy festival of the Valley again, and we are brightened by Their presence. Just as the light and heat return after being hidden by nighttime or by cloud cover, we are never separated from the love of our gods for very long. You can be sure as there is another sunrise that Netjer will kiss your face again, just as it has done every day and just as it will continue to do every day until the end of time. Isn't this a wonderful feeling? Give thanks under Ra for this gift. Dua Ra! Dua Shemsu-Ra! Dua Amun-Ra! Dua Mut! Dua Khonsu! Dua Akhu! Dua Hethert! Dua Ihy! Nekhtet!

Beautiful Feast of the Valley, Day 3 As you look around you today at the beautiful things in Netjer's creation, give thanks. As you listen to the various sounds of life, consider what they tell you about that life. As you look and listen, what do you feel? How do all of your senses, your seen world senses, inform you about the unseen? Meditate on this today, and use all your senses, not just the usual ones. Dua Amun-Ra! Dua Mut! Dua Khonsu! Dua Akhu! Holiday of the Month of Ra's Shemsu Ra and those who love Him are having a festival today. Honor the great one Who is in the sun and give praise! Everywhere the disk of the sun shines brings joyousness. Our ancient texts speak about how even the Duat breaks into cheering and festivities as He rises there, over Akhu and gods alike. As He rises over you, give thanks, and receive His warm love. Dua Amun-Ra! Dua Mut! Dua Khonsu! Dua Akhu! Dua Hethert! Dua Ihy! Dua Ra! Dua Shemsu Ra! Nekhtet!

Feast of Hethert's Giving Birth, Day 17 As the moon returns to a new cycle, we begin one of the larger and more festive holidays of the end of our Kemetic Year: the Beautiful Feast of the Valley, a 12-day festival of the blessed dead and the gods of the city of Waset (Thebes). Go to the cemeteries and other places where your Akhu dwell, and give them offering. Stay with them for a meal if you can; share with them the procession of the Great Gods of Waset, regal gods of power and magic. Sing for them and give them gifts of flowers and perfume, bread and beer, and whatever they enjoyed in life. Remember them to your family through storytelling or even through the time-honored tradition of Letters to the Dead. May it be a very powerful, quiet, and holy time for you and for all those you love whether they are seen or unseen, living or dead. Enjoy the festival and the extra blessing of the Holy Ones upon you. Dua Hethert! Dua Ihy! Dua Amun-Ra! Dua Mut! Dua Khonsu! Dua Akhu! Nekhtet!

Bless all the children of Netjer, known and unknown! Feast of Hethert's Giving Birth, Day 15 Today in your shrine, meditate upon connectedness. What connects you to the place you live? The people around you? How is the connection different between you and a stranger or you and a family member? How are you connected (or disconnected) from yourself? Your loved ones? Your deities? May Ma'at, Who forms the connection between all beings, bless your connections today and help you to remember that you are not (and never are) alone. Dua Hethert! Dua Ihy! Nekhtet!
