Coronation Festival of Userma'atra Setepenra Ramses (Ramses II) During the festival of Hethert's giving birth to Ihy, spirit of kings, a coronation was celebrated in antiquity: that of Userma'atra Setepenra Ramses, Ramses the Great. We honor Him in our shrines this weekend as His coronation vows reverberate throughout the unseen world in the re-creation of Zep Tepi. May creativity be at its height for you, and may you know Ihy's joy as well as Hethert's sublime love in all that you do or make. Dua Wesir-Ramses (AUS!) Dua Hethert! Dua Ihy! Nekhtet!

Crowning of Heka, Day 12 In the temple yard, the apple tree and the crabapple tree are flowering, and the peach trees have both stopped flowering and gone to leaf. The peonies are starting to come up amidst the daffodils and tulips, and the lily of the valley and the grapevines are starting to sprout. It is definitely spring even if the temperature still feels a little bit chilly in the evenings! We're looking forward to our next two gatherings coming up: a meeting of the Midwest members' group in Chicago at the Oriental Institute Museum on May 7 and the Serqet and Nebt-het weekend intensive on May 13-15. We'd love to see you at one or both of these events -- contact my office for more information if you are interested in coming! This time of year is always a pleasure as it is when everything starts to move more quickly, as we reach the endpoint of one Kemetic year and the turning of the next. More gatherings, more study, more work -- yet more fellowship and more time together, too. I am very happy to share these times with all of you and for us to worship together as the year of Amun-Ra and Sekhmet starts to wind down. May we continue to honor these two wondrous gods as the year progresses. Dua Heka! Dua Hethert! Dua Ihy! Nekhtet!
Thought for the Day: May each of them have an excellent journey as they come to know their gods and themselves through the Naming Rite of Passage. Nekhtet!

Crowning of Heka, Day 11 This evening in our Dua ceremony we will witness the Naming of more Shemsu of the faith. It is an exciting time in the rite of passage of our people, and I'm looking forward to our sharing together. Today take some out of your day to make a special prayer toward peace. I define peace as a state of calm, both on a political level (lack of war) and a personal level (lack of inner or outer conflict). May peace find you, and may you find it, in the names of mighty Heka and the great goddess Hethert who births Joy. May They grant you blessing as you extend your gratitude toward Them. Dua Heka! Dua Hethert! Dua Ihy! Nekhtet!

Crowning of Heka, Day 10 Today, in your shrine, ponder the nature of your own contribution to your future. Will you be brave and face the unknown with courage and a willingness to persevere? Will you remember to take some breaks along the way and not burn yourself out before you reach your goals? Will you walk your life's path alone, with a few others, or among many? Who will you meet along the way? What will you learn? Is the goal or destination the important part...or is it the journey itself that will be remembered once done? May the gods and goddesses of this holy month grant you Their joy and Their peace in blessings. Dua Heka! Dua Hethert! Dua Ihy! Nekhtet!

"'Ma'at judges before the Names" Posting from Boston, Massachusetts This morning's lecture was well attended; about 100 people listened to me discuss our great but enigmatic goddess Nebt-het, the Lady of the House. This afternoon, Imakhu Sedjemes and I continue to attend lectures and discussions and then tomorrow we will be meeting with the members of the faith before heading home. Today is also the end of the birthday celebration for Shu and Tefnut, the culmination of all of the powers of creation in the holiday of Ma'at's judging. In reality, Ma'at judges every day, not just today. How is She judging you? May you find that your heart is as light as the feather on Her head and may it bring you peace. Dua Ma'at! Dua Shu! Dua Tefnut! Dua Het-hert! Dua Ihy! Nekhtet!

Feast of Khonsu Posting from Boston, Massachusetts As the moon reaches its fullness, we give offering to Khonsu, the great Traveller, that He might shine brightly on us and bring us peace and health. Djehuty, also seen in the light of the moon's crescent, is also celebrated today, as He counts up our good deeds (and hopefully overlooks our less than good ones!). May He also shine down with His loving face filled with wisdom. They join the creative gods of the month in granting us a fertile time for ideas to sow and bear fruit. May each of us feel Their blessings continually. Dua Khonsu! Dua Djehuty! Dua Shu! Dua Tefnut! Dua Het-hert! Dua Ihy! Nekhtet!

Birthday of Shu and Tefnut, Day 8 Posting from Boston, Massachusetts Hello from the American Research Center in Egypt annual meeting! Imakhu Sedjemes and I are getting ready to be part of this annual event, along with my presenting a paper on the goddess Nebt-het on Saturday morning. On Sunday, we will be hosting a gathering of local members and anyone else who can be in town! We are continuing the festivals of creation in the faith. My prayers last night were joined with those of others at the biweekly Dua where we did a special directed heka prayer. May the power of all of our prayers cause all of them to be answered favorably with the swiftness of Shu's wind. You are each in my prayers and thoughts this week. One can never have enough prayers. May the great gods and goddesses bless you! Dua Shu! Dua Tefnut! Dua Het-hert! Dua Ihy! Nekhtet!

Birthday of Shu and Tefnut, Day 6 Reach out today and get to know someone you are acquainted with just a little bit better. One cannot have too many friends, nor can one have too many people in the family. It is a small, happy world when we can do this for each other. Get to know someone new today -- you may be pleasantly surprised by the results. I pray in the names of the holy ones of this day that you are blessed with love from all the people in your life, new and old. Dua Shu! Dua Tefnut! Dua Het-hert! Dua Ihy! Nekhtet!

Birthday of Shu and Tefnut, Day 5 Now that Ihy and Hethert have been purified after their birth, both are reunited with the people and a long festival ensues. Analogous to the purification and baby naming ceremonies of the past, we perform Rootnaming ceremonies of our Kemetic Orthodox children today. I take some special time out today to pray for the 42 current Rootnamed Children in our faith, and those children of our devotees recently born who will likely take a Rootname at some point in the future. These children are the future of our religion, and we are very happy to be able to welcome them into our Kemetic Orthodox family. May the gods of creation and birth attend to you with all Their power and give you joy. Dua Shu! Dua Tefnut! Dua Het-hert! Dua Ihy! Nekhtet!

Birthday of Shu and Tefnut, Days 3-4 As creation is celebrated in the birth of Yesterday and Today, we also honor a feast for the goddess Hethert, Who is purified after giving birth to Ihy, great god of music and joy, earlier in the month. We also honor the crowning of Heru as Heka, the power of magical speech and the creative Word. Those of you who took part in our Hethert Prosperity Heka service last Wednesday may want to read your hekau in your shrines again this week to make them work better! It is a time to ask for all that you need, as the gods and goddesses are generous and happy to supply our needs and even a few of our desires. May all the great gods and goddesses of these days be praised and bless you all. Dua Shu! Dua Tefnut! Dua Het-hert! Dua Heka! Nekhtet!

Bless all the children of Netjer, known and unknown! Birthday of Shu and Tefnut, Day 2 Take a short time today to write a letter to a god or goddess. Tell Him or Her everything you've always wanted to say; share your thoughts, your hopes and dreams, or just your love. Put the letter in your shrine or read it aloud. The universe is meant for you. This means you are allowed to be happy and healthy and prosperous and even a little more than prosperous. The gods and goddesses want for you to live to the height of your potential and the ends of your possibilities -- and they are many. What will you tell Them today? Dua Shu! Dua Tefnut! Nekhtet!

Birthday of Shu and Tefnut, Day 1 For ten days, we honor the birth of Shu and Tefnut, first of the gods to emerge from Temu, the Self-Created One. In these ten days it is proper to meditate upon the nature of creativity and how the universe is a self-perpetuating, continuous Creation, designed to honor the gods and to bring Them joy, as well to bring joy and happiness and all things to each creature within that Creation. The universe is yours, thanks to the beginning made by Tem and Shu and Tefnut. Nekhtet! May you use it well. Dua Shu! Dua Tefnut! Heru-Behdety! Nekhtet!

Bless all the children of Netjer, known and unknown! Saq-Heru in Procession to Khadi, Day 3 The moon festival of Heru Behdety's procession to Khadi to receive the victory from Ra has come, and with it we make offerings to the great god of strength, courage and protection. As I made prayers and offerings to Him here at the temple, I noticed a flash of color in the otherwise drab yard outside the shrine window in the rain, and realized our peach trees are now in blossom. I gave thanks that the turning of the year continues and that we may find beauty even in unusual places, just as the great lord brings His light to us in the form of the sun and moon. May He bring you courage and the ability to bloom forth in your own spring. Dua Heru-Behdety! Nekhtet!

May we stride forth courageously and be part of Their vanguard in the world. Dua Heru-sa-Aset! Dua Amun! Dua Min! Dua Khnum! Dua Ra! Dua Wesir Djehutymose (AUS)! Nekhtet!

Today, to a complete stranger, give thanks. There is never a day without something worth being grateful for. There is never a day without someone to thank, whether that is the divine, your fellow creations....or yourself. Be grateful, and great blessings will follow. Dua Heru-sa-Aset! Dua Amun! Dua Min! First Day of the Kemetic Month A new season comes. Zep-Tepi is upon us again, and Renenutet, mistress of fates, decrees for us a new beginning. The gods are everywhere, in procession, in festival, in Saq. They are all around, close as a breath and above and below and by our sides and at our backs and beckoning us forward and onward. May you feel the Hand of God in this turning of the season and may you take it joyfully to your next destination. I pray in the name of all our gods and goddesses that you are aware of Their love and Their happiness with you and for you. Dua Hethert Iusaas! Dua Heru-sa-Aset! Dua Renenutet! Dua Amun! Dua Min! Last Day of the Kemetic Month This afternoon, my Shemsu and Remetj and their families and friends are gathering in Iowa for a fellowship day. Unfortunately I could not be with them in body, but I am definitely with them in spirit and love. We end the season of Growing and enter the season of Harvest. Things that were begun with last August's new year, the year of Amun-Ra and Sekhmet, are now coming to fruition. Challenges have been overcome, goals have been met, and plans have been made. What is coming in the next four months will prepare us for the turning of the Kemetic year again and another Wep Ronpet. Our Wep Ronpet retreat is nearly sold out, and a second retreat added to coincide with my coronation anniversary in November will fill quickly. Many members, new and old, and their families, will be converging on our temple here for these holidays as well as the other events we hold in the building. It is a busy, but very exciting time. Shemsu Naming will be held again this coming month as more people join the faith and commit to that level and the latest beginners' group is proceeding very nicely. The news from Home is all very good! May the great gods of this day, and Khonsu Who is over our next Kemetic month beginning tomorrow, bless you richly. I pray in Khonsu's name that you are protected against all things, real and unreal, seen and unseen, and that you have His insight to lend you grace. Dua Ra! Dua Heru! Dua Wesir! Dua Ptah-Sokar-Wesir! Dua Temu! Dua Netjeru nebu! Nekhtet!
