Feast of Hethert's Giving Birth (Day 16)
Last Day of the Kemetic Month
Saq-Min

We give special offerings to the temples of Ra, Heru and Wesir today as we end the first month of the last season of Year 11, and also an offering to Min, the god Who promotes growth, that the harvest of our yearly goals continues to produce excellent results.

May all of these great gods find you content as we enter another season of celebrating our connection with Them and with each other.

Feast of Hethert's Giving Birth (Day 15)

Ma'at is movement within stillness, the change that is the norm.

As you move through your world, know that She is moving with you, ever touching, ever transforming, all your thoughts, actions, words, dreams and situations.

There is no place in any life on this created world that does not have Ma'at within it.

This is why She is a goddess.

May She bless you with the knowledge of Her presence, and may it be a comfort to you always.

Dua Hethert! Nekhtet!

Feast of Hethert's Giving Birth (Day 14)

There are victories in the world constantly, but they are not all of the same size.

It is easy, very easy, to notice a large failure, but it is not easy to notice a small victory.

The victory, no matter how small, is still more important than the failure.

I pray in the name of this Golden Goddess that you know only victory on this day.

Dua Hethert! Nekhtet!

Feast of Hethert's Giving Birth (Day 13)

When tempted to fall into bad habits, do something different.

Instead of focusing on what makes you angry, think about what you would like instead.

How quickly our demeanor changes when we are focused on the goal and not the obstacles!

May the great goddess Whose son brings joy on this day, the Eye of Ra Himself, help you keep your own eye where it needs to be.

Feast of Hethert's Giving Birth (Day 12)

There are two kinds of action: intellectual action (thinking) and physical action (doing).

Both are important, though people tend to have a preference toward all-or-nothing, where they either think all the time and are intimidated or afraid to do, or they do all the time and don't bother to think.

Find a balance, a ma'at, in your actions today.

While it is important to "get out of your head" and do something in the physical world, it is equally important to put enough thought into your physical actions that you understand what you are doing at all times, and why.

May the goddess of balance and order, great Ma'at Herself, help you find this balance.

Dua Hethert! Nekhtet!

Thought for the Day:

Crowning of Heka (Day 12)
Feast of Hethert's Giving Birth (Day 11)

There is a power in reaching out to others, even when everything within you cries to be left alone.

When hands touch hands, a certain kind of magic ensues, a magic where one realizes just how connected everything -- and everyone -- can be.

Reach out and connect.

Crowning of Heka (Day 10)
Feast of Hethert's Giving Birth (Day 9)

We complete the great festival of Heru-wer's arrival in Khadi today. May His victories give you strength and power, confidence and courage.

Now that the website seems to be stabilizing again, I hope to begin sharing some of my journal from the recent Jubilee pilgrimage on Daily Ma'at...so if you aren't already subscribing, you might want to consider doing so! I'm looking forward to a conversation about some of the really powerful events that went into those days, and to sharing them with you.

I pray today that great Heru brings peace to strife and a level of comfort to those who are not comfortable. May His mighty wings enfold you and lift you up.

Saq-Heru and Procession to Khadi (Day 3)
Crowning of Heka (Day 8)
Feast of Hethert's Giving Birth (Day 7)

Our city is digging out from a disaster today. A tornado hit Joliet a little over two miles away from the temple last evening, destroyed about 10 buildings, and caused some minor injuries toward the center of our city. We are very grateful for no loss of life in Joliet, and for just having to clean up broken trees, power lines and damaged buildings, and we also pray for the people dead, lost and missing in the town of Utica, about an hour west of us, which was hit far harder by the same set of storms just after sunset yesterday evening.

This evening, if the power stays on (and so far it is), we will be meeting in Dua to honor the great god Heru-wer, and give thanks to Him that none of our Illinois members were harmed in last night's bad weather.

Today I give thanks for our safety, the safety of the people of our city, and ask for Netjer's help in the lives of those who must rebuild, bury their dead, or help in the rescue and clean-up efforts across our state.

Dua Heru! Dua Heka! Dua Hethert! Nekhtet!

"Ma'at judges in front of the Names"
Saq-Heru and Procession to Khadi (Day 2)
Birthday of Shu and Tefnut (Day 10)
Crowning of Heka (Day 7)
Feast of Hethert's Giving Birth (Day 6)

It is a day of judgment, both self-judgment and the judgment of the goddess Ma'at.

If I know you as well as I know myself, you will be your own harshest judges, and you will find that She is far more lenient upon you than you are upon yourselves.

Take a page from Ma'at's book and balance your feelings about yourself. Judge yourself as you truly are, not as you would like to be or as you are angry with yourself that you are not.

When you can do this, you will truly be vindicated, and found true before Her.

May She help you achieve balance in this way.

Dua Ma'at! Dua Heru! Dua Shu! Dua Tefnut! Dua Heka! Dua Hethert! Nekhtet!

Thought for the Day:
"To judge anything with any degree of clarity and accuracy we would need all the information past, present and future and how it will affect all concerned to make a perfect judgment. Since no one has that skill, ability or information, you might agree, it may be unwise to judge. This idea may be hard to accept, but when you look back over your life and the judgments you made, ask yourself: how many of your judgments, when you made them, were you perfectly sure they were correct, and how many would you want to change now with the benefit of 20/20 hindsight?"

Feast of Khonsu
Day of Counting of Djehuty, who heard Ma'at
Birthday of Shu and Tefnut (Day 9)
Crowning of Heka (Day 6)
Feast of Hethert's Giving Birth (Day 5)

As the moon is renewed, we add more festivities to what we are already observing: a holiday in honor of the moon itself; the appearance of Heru-wer on His entrance into Khadi, the place where He accepts His kingship; and a feast of Khonsu-Great-In-Plans, son of the great god Amun and the great goddess Mut, exorcist and protector of the helpless and innocent. We also honor the role of Djehuty, Lord of Wisdom, in His assessment ("counting") of the righteous before Ma'at. Are you counted in His following?

May each of these gods, along with the Firstborn Shu and Tefnut, Heka Who is magic itself, and Hethert and Her loving son Ihy bring each of you peace and a silent, satisfied heart.

Birthday of Shu and Tefnut (Days 4-5)
Feast of the Half Month (14th)
Crowning of Heka (Days 1-2)
Feast of Hethert's Giving Birth (Day 1, 15th)

Halfway through the first month of the last season of our Kemetic year, we celebrate a major holiday of the goddess Hethert.

Ihy, Her son by the god Heru-wer, is born, and joy enters the world with music and singing!

Heka, another form of the Greatly Speckled Hawk, is brought down upon the crown, and the kingly ka, manifestation of Netjer in our kingship, is born in the midst of the joy and the singing.

We celebrate the rebirth of joy in the world, and the circle of love is complete.

May you hear the music of all the gods today and feel Their joy.

Procession of Hethert (Day 3)

In the midst of pain or trouble, it is often very difficult to tear your attention away, to refocus not on the pain or the trouble, but on the strength and the courage and the other skills that you already have to get yourself through.

Use the strength of the gods to help you remember to switch your attention today, from those things that you do not need or want, to the things that you do need and want.

You will find many others joining you there in that place to reinforce, and a second wind, the blessing of Shu, to carry you through and over any obstacle.

May His second wind find you blessed.

The first two emanations of the Self-Created, Shu and Tefnut, are celebrated over the next ten days, as is a celebration of Hethert in festival.

It is a time to honor the process of creation and the love that the Creator has for all of Its manifestations, gods and men, animals and plants, planets and galaxies alike.

Saq Heru-sa-Aset and His Shemsu (Day 7)

The son of Aset and Wesir, mighty Heru the Younger, asks us to find and create justice in our lives.

There are many opportunities to expand justice, whether in the world around you or even just considering ways in which you can be more just in your actions, words, and even thoughts.

I pray that this great god might grant you wisdom, insight and the ability to learn something of His lesson of justice, that ma'at might be greater in your world.

Saq Heru-sa-Aset and His Shemsu (Day 6)

It is a pleasant day. A nest of baby birds is sitting right outside my window, so I get to hear them singing in the sunshine as I work.

Small things like this remind me of the miracles of nature, and the creations of the gods, all around us, and even if it sounds mushy, one cannot help but smile in the face of such glory.

Find something to smile about today, no matter how simple or how small.

Today I am praying extra hard for healing.

For those who are suffering from injuries or temporary illness, may you find healing quickly and recuperate well.

For those living with chronic illness, I pray for you to have pain-free days and remission a million times!

I do not distinguish between physical and mental illnesses as I believe all are equal before the gods and goddesses, and I ask for the healing of you, whether that is your tangible or intangible parts.

May healing rush forth as a beam of sunlight, an intense flame -- as Sekhmet's arrow takes down disease and the magical words spoken by Serqet, Aset, Nefertem and all gods Who heal bring rest and recuperation.

May each of you find a healing in your life.

Second, give thanks for all of the people in your life that make your life brighter.

Third, give thanks for all of the strengths you possess to achieve your goals in life.

and fourth, give thanks to your gods and goddesses, for the first three gifts and everything they mean to you.

First Day of the Kemetic Month
First Day of the Kemetic Season

Saq Heru-sa-Aset and His Shemsu (Day 1)
Feast of Renenutet
Processions of Amun, Min, Khnum & Ra (Day 1)
Feasts of Khnum, Heka, Djehuty and all Names

Festivals abound on the day we enter the third and final season of our Kemetic year. Nekhtet!

I honor especially great Amun today, as He blessed me during my recent trip with a new name after I had completed the jubilee rituals: Setepenamun, or "Chosen by Amun," to add to the Setepenra I already had the honor to bear as part of my coronation names from my last trip to Egypt. I promise to do my best to live up to its heka and honor its long and storied history as an epithet of many great men and women.

As we begin the season of heat, and reap the benefits of all the work we sowed during the last six months, make sure to take time to rest, reflect and regroup. As Kemetic New Year nears, the pace of time slows, then speeds up and it's easy to be overwhelmed by the energy manifesting as the forces renewing our universe build and crest. I pray that everyone receives a bounty of what they have cultivated over the last two seasons, and that this empowers you to achieve your own Zep-tepi in time with the cycle of renewal of our world.
