Bless all the children of Netjer, known and unknown! Feast of Hethert's Giving Birth (Day 15) We give great thanks to Netjer for the safety and success of those of our members and friends over the last few days who had surgery. May Sekhmet, great healer and driver of plagues, She Who is the Lady in Red associated with our Lady in Gold of this special holiday, grant each of them a safe, healthy and speedy recovery, and we also ask that She intervene and grant blessing in the health of all of Her people no matter where they might be, known and unknown. We give great thanks for our members and friends who are with child, at this time of divine birthgiving, and ask that Hethert extend Her blessing over their unborn as well as the mothers. May Taweret grant safety in labor and strength of body, and may Bes keep all evil and illness far from mothers and children. We give great thanks for all the blessings of all the children of Netjer, those who are known to us and those who are not. May the gods and goddesses smile down on each of you and grant you peace and happiness, prosperity and health, long lives and great praise. Dua Hethert! Dua Ihy! Nekhtet!

Bless all the children of Netjer, known and unknown! Feast of Hethert's Giving Birth (Day 14) I've returned from the American Research Center in Egypt annual meeting. Unfortunately technical problems kept us offline in Atlanta, but now that I'm home I'm looking forward to diving in to all of your mail and questions again! This week we'll move into another Kemetic month, once again closer to the end of our year. The things we began seven to nine months ago are now starting to show results. It's time to get out there, gather your harvest, or make changes if you need to before the final harvest is taken in. Make sure to set aside something of your successes as an offering to the gods and goddesses, of the "first fruits" of your labors in this year. Think particularly on Hethert, the One Who is giving birth now, and give Her a special offering too in this Her year of prosperity and potential. I pray in Her name that you find Her son, Ihy the joyous, in every facet of your "harvest." Dua Hethert! Dua Ihy! Nekhtet!

Crowning of Heka (Day 10) Today, anything is possible. (Everything, on every day, is possible -- but let's start from this day and this concept). Make the best of this day, as you go into it with the love of Netjer in your heart and the words of Ma'at in your ka. What kind of day will it be? Dua Heka! Dua Hethert! Dua Ihy! Nekhtet!

Crowning of Heka (Day 9) We celebrated prosperity yesterday, and I hope that the hekau we performed together will have excellent and swift results. Today I will be sending those hekau to the rest of our people so that they, too, can enjoy the benefits of our prosperity for the last weeks of Hethert's year! I encourage you to enjoy the break in the festival calendar, to spend some time in fellowship with your friends, family and the gods and goddesses. Sometimes, there is nothing better than just to sit in silence among the company of those that love you. This is a blessing and a mystery. In experiencing it, it may teach you more than it seems to on the surface. In the name of Heka, may your intentions match your words and your words match your deeds. Only thus is Ma'at brought into the world. Dua Heka! Dua Hethert! Dua Ihy! Nekhtet!

Crowning of Heka (Day 8) For the rest of our Kemetic month, we are closing out these two very great festivals, of Heka's enthronement as Heru, and of Ihy's birth to Hethert. It is a beautiful time and a time to spend in offering and joyousness. I hope that you enjoy it very greatly. This afternoon I'm looking forward to meeting with our people in International Dua. We'll be performing some heka to focus on prosperity -- what better time to do this than at the time of magic and birth? Hoping to see all of you there. I pray in the name of Heru Who is Heka that your words are well-received today and bring you good results. Dua Heka! Dua Hethert! Dua Ihy! Nekhtet!

Ma'at Judges Before the Gods On the final day Shu and Tefnut's birthday is honored, and the day after Djehuty has made His accounting before Ma'at, She turns and makes judgment before all the gods and goddesses of Kemet. May She find you among the blessed today, and may you find Her smiling. I pray in the name of She Who is Truth that you are judged, and also judge yourself, worthy of Netjer's love and care. In this judgment may you find peace and solace, happiness and all contentment. Dua Ma'at! Dua Shu! Dua Tefnut! Dua Heka! Dua Hethert! Dua Ihy! Nekhtet!

Day of the Counting of Djehuty, "Who heard Ma'at" The prayer session went so well yesterday that I will continue it today! Dua-Netjer to each of you who also sent prayers to share at my altars. I hope that all of your prayers are answered quickly and in abundance. Today we honor the running festivals of previous days as well as a feast of Khonsu, wanderer and slayer of demons; and the delightfully-named "Day of the Counting of Djehuty Who Heard Ma'at." Djehuty makes distinctions today, writes destinies on the sacred leaves of Ra's tree, based on His "counting" as He listens to Ma'at's report. What will He write on your leaf? I pray in the name of the greatly wise one, and His consort Who is Truth, that you are found among the blessed and the stories written on your leaves are counted towards ma'at. Dua Djehuty! Birthdays of Shu and Tefnut (Day 8) Today I make a special prayer session for my ancestors, and all the ancestors that brought together the people who love Netjer. Join me in giving them prayers, honor, gifts of their favorite foods and enjoying life -- and remembering who brought us here to celebrate it. We thank Netjer for the Akhu, Who shine down upon us and bring us peace, protection and blessing. Dua Shu! Dua Tefnut! Dua Heka! Dua Hethert! Dua Ihy! Nekhtet!

Birthdays of Shu and Tefnut (Day 7) Pray with me. Pray for peace in the world, in your country, in your city, in your home, in your heart. Pray for love flowing like water from each heart you know and from every eye. Pray for silence, in which is hidden great wisdom. Pray for plenty, in food, in shelter, in money -- and in love and kindness. Pray with me, and thus might we both be enriched. Dua Shu! Dua Tefnut! Dua Heka! Dua Hethert! Dua Ihy! Nekhtet!

Birthdays of Shu and Tefnut (Day 6) Use today as a good day to evaluate a goal or challenge, and to rededicate yourself to it. The festivals we're currently celebrating contain much energy to put to this sort of use -- to build and grow what you wish to manifest in your life at this time. I pray in the names of Yesterday and Today, of Magic, the Mother and Joyfulness, that you are satisfied and happy with yourself, your world and your journeys. Dua Shu! Dua Tefnut! Dua Heka! Birthdays of Shu and Tefnut (Day 5) Joy has come! Ihy springs forth from His mother Hethert and joy is renewed. The full moon shines down on the birth-house as the massive celebrations begin. I encourage you to find a way to celebrate this very special day. This year, it coincides with the holy days of Judaism and Christianity, faiths many of our people's ancestors honored, and so it would also be a good day to remember your ancestors if these are special days for them. Looking forward to celebrating with our people at the biweekly Dua services this evening! Dua Shu! Dua Tefnut! Dua Hethert! Dua Heka! Dua Ihy! Nekhtet!

Birthdays of Shu and Tefnut (Day 4) Halfway through the first month of our last season, we celebrate the purifications of Hethert, Who is poised to give birth to Ihy, son of music and joy. Heka, too, the personification of "magical speech" associated with Shu and Heru-wer, is also celebrated in a festival where He receives the crown of the Two Lands. It is a very special time for us, a time for renewal and rejoicing. Join me in feasting our gods of happiness and plenty, generosity and kindness, power and love. I pray in all of Their names that you have a happy feast! Dua Shu! Dua Tefnut! Dua Hethert! Dua Heka! Nekhtet!

Birthdays of Shu and Tefnut (Day 3) There really is a sense of beginning in every day, if you can quiet your mind enough to comprehend it. Each morning -- no, even each moment -- carries within itself the latent power of growth, the gift of Wesir wrapped in the shining newness of Creation. Each moment can grow into another moment, or leave off to make room for the next. Which action each moment takes, to grow or to fade away before the next, is up to you. May you use your moments wisely, and tend to them, as Wesir tends to his Akhu and we tend to Wesir's tiny growing things. And may all of us benefit from their harvest. I pray this in the name of the original Children of the Creator, and the Mother of us all. Dua Shu! Dua Tefnut! Dua Hethert! Nekhtet!

Birthdays of Shu and Tefnut (Days 1-2) And right after the sun comes the wind and rain, air and water, Shu and Tefnut the lions of Yesterday and Today. Make a celebration out of doors if you can in honor of all of these powerful, primordial and great gods and goddesses. Blessings are abounding as the First Time, the beginning of all beginnings and the return to the cycle of Ma'at, are renewed. Leave yesterday and tomorrow alone and enjoy today, for it is all there is, again, like every day. Enjoy today, and all todays. I pray in the name of Shu and Tefnut that you are happy, healthy and very satisfied. Dua Shu! Dua Tefnut! Dua Hethert! Nekhtet!

Bless all the children of Netjer, known and unknown! Hethert Proceeds Upstream Here comes the sun... Moving upstream, the Eye of Ra is headed for Her husband's home, the brilliant winged disk of Behdety's home town of Edfu, in preparation for many celebrations of love, laughter, marriage and unfettered joy. Could there be a better time for joy to be on the horizon? Early in my spiritual work, I received a gift from an honored teacher. It was a small wooden plaque, inscribed quite simply with the words: Don't Postpone Joy. As we go to Tawy House this weekend to celebrate the majesty of Her husband, Heru-wer in a special empowerment intensive, I encourage all of you to celebrate the Holy Couple in any way you see fit. Bring offerings, make a party of it! The sun is coming. Dua Hethert! Nekhtet!

Bless all the children of Netjer, known and unknown! Saq Heru-sa-Aset and His Shemsu, Day 8 Take a bit of time today and spend it in the sunshine. I notice that I often say in these devotions to "take time out." Mostly, that's because I assume most of you live in the same world that I do...the one that always has us running around like fools never quite getting everything accomplished and slaves to the hour and the minute...and because it's important to get some quality time in that space. What do you do with your quality time? How can you use it to center yourself and greet Netjer? I'd love to hear your comments about this! (We'll be sharing them on Daily Ma'at as part of our meditations upon Ma'at this week, if you e-mail them; if you put them on the message boards it might start a nice conversation). Enjoy your quality time today, and always. Dua Heru-sa-Aset! Nekhtet!

Bless all the children of Netjer, known and unknown! Saq Heru-sa-Aset and His Shemsu, Day 7 As soon as our internet provider completes the upgrade of its systems and our boards are returned to working status, we'll be posting the log of the heka prayers on the private prayer lists so that all of you can help us continue focusing on all those prayers we shared in yesterday's International Dua. It is a special blessing to be able to share the power of prayer. Prayer is the sort of thing that grows both in experience and in use -- the more it's refined, the more results come forth. I encourage each of you to engage in some "prayer workout" this season -- tone up your prayer muscles and see the benefits! In the name of Heru-sa-Aset, may your prayers all manifest. Saq Heru-sa-Aset and His Shemsu, Day 6 As Heru-sa-Aset continues His journey to victory and validation, recognition and triumph, we come together in our International Dua session to invoke His aid in our lives, to give thanks and to share our prayers in a special concentrated prayer heka. I encourage all our members who can join us at 3pm Chicago time (note that's an hour later than it was last time due to the time change) to come and bring their prayers to share. For those who cannot, or those who are children of Netjer but not members of Kemetic Orthodoxy, I invite you to click the prayers button below and share them with me. I will take them with me to the prayer heka and add them to our special efforts. You can never have enough prayer. Add a couple to your daily rounds. Dua Heru-sa-Aset! Nekhtet!

Saq Heru-sa-Aset and His Shemsu, Day 5 We're getting ready for the opening of the new season. Much excitement is afoot, as shrines are redone and rebuilt, the plans for our New Year's celebration are continued, and a new slate of Qenbet nominees are moved into their places for the season. There are also the ongoing projects: seminary courses to release, all sorts of ceremonies including divinations and Namings and blessings and everyday prayers, and my upcoming appearance in Atlanta at an Egyptologists' annual meeting conciding with a visit with our Southeast North American membership group. There's a lot to give thanks for this season, and most of all I want to give thanks to you for sharing it with me. Dua-Netjer to all of the readers of these devotions and all of Netjer's people everywhere. Dua Heru-sa-Aset! Dua Heru-wer! Nekhtet!

Feast of Banebdjed Today is a day to honor fertility in the form of Banebdjed the ram of Wesir, and to honor the cleansing of ourselves from violence and negativity in the re-enactment of Set's being driven from Heru resulting in the restoration of kingship and order in the Two Lands. Spend special time in your shrine today contemplating the ways that you can renew yourself and be reborn into your new goals and challenges at the start of this beautiful season. I pray in Banebdjed's name that your growth is sustained and very strong. Dua Banebdjed! Dua Heru-sa-Aset! Dua Heru-wer! Nekhtet!

Saq Heru-sa-Aset and His Shemsu, Day 4 It is "spring cleaning" time in my shrines, and so I've spent many days in the temple room in my house rearranging and cleaning, sweeping and vacuuming. Soon I will have finished the task and a new shrine for the season will emerge. I can tell you that the moment I started to unveil the sacred objects, the room felt more open, welcome, and holy. And just from a bit of cleaning... Clean out your shrines for a new season too -- you'd be amazed what sorts of things get in there that you might have needed at one time but don't need any more. All gods appreciate renewal, and so will you! Dua Heru-sa-Aset! Dua Heru-wer! Dua Amun! Dua Min! Dua Khnum! Dua Ra! Nekhtet!

Saq Heru-sa-Aset and His Shemsu, Day 3 *Note: posted late due to technical issues* This afternoon I spent some time outside in a very heavy rain. I imagined what the ancients would have thought about a land where water fell directly from the sky, and realized that at least after the New Kingdom, they did have some idea about it due to the extent of the empire upwards toward modern Turkey -- they referred to this as a "Nile in the Sky" and considered it a gift of Set, the counterpart of the Nile on Earth the gift of Heru. I gave thanks to Set for the rain washing our streets clean of the dirt and dust of the end of a too dry winter, and hoped that it would help the leaves and buds to sprout. Set's rain washed me, too, and I feel even more blessed than I did at the beginning of this very special season, the end of Hethert's prosperity year. Make a celebration in your house for all the gifts of the gods, that surround us all the time. Dua Heru-sa-Aset! Dua Heru-wer! Dua Amun! Dua Min! Dua Khnum! Dua Ra! Nekhtet!

Pesdjentiu (New Moon Festival) It is an amazing day. The only other day in the year that we celebrate more festivals in one passage of Ra is Wep Ronpet, Kemetic New Year, also holy to the goddess Renenet, snake of fate. Celebrate as we enter a new Kemetic lunar and civil month, and also as we open the last Kemetic season of Year 10! For these festivals, contemplate creativity and your newest challenges and goals as part of your daily prayers and shrine time. The gods of creation, of wisdom, and magic abound. May Hethert Iusaas, the Hand of the Creator, bless you with a full, exciting and very happy month. May Heru-sa-Aset grant you His victory and His peace. Dua Iusaas! Dua Renenet! Dua Khnum! Dua Heka!
