About
The daily devotions are written by Her Holiness the Nisut (AUS) and include prayers and special practices for the faithful, corresponding to the Kemetic Orthodox calendar.

From 1994-1999, the daily devotions had been available exclusively to followers of the House of Netjer. We share them now with the general public so that all may learn from these enlightening and thought-provoking missives.

Last Day of the Kemetic Month
Offering to Ptah-Sokar-Wesir, Temu & all Names

Back online after the return from the Beloved Land and a small DSL problem. I'm so happy to be back and looking forward to this evening's meeting to discuss the trip with the faithful.

Over the next few days I'll be sharing some of the details of the trip on our mailing lists including Daily Ma'at, and some things here in the devotion. In the meantime I will just repeat that I am delighted to be home in the new temple as spring is bringing so many flowers out of the ground, flowers I had no idea were there when we purchased in October. There are flowers already there in all the places we intended to place our outdoor shrines this spring, just waiting for our gods to nestle among them.

Nekhtet for the beauties of nature as the great Eye of Ra returns from Her southern sojourn.

I pray today in the names of mighty Ra, Heru, and Wesir, and give offerings on behalf of the Great Creator Ptah-Sokar-Wesir and the Self-Created One, Temu the Complete, as well as all the gods and goddesses who love each of you so much. May They grant you every wish, every blessing, and may They shower you with Their love and affection.

Dua Ra! Dua Heru! Dua Wesir! Dua Ptah-Sokar-Wesir! Dua Temu! Dua Netjeru nebu! Nekhtet!

Thought for the Day:
Just in time for me to return from my trip, I find that March 2004 was Kemetic Orthodox Month on another website. How neat, and too bad we didn't know about it sooner! Enjoy the interfaith links.

Writing from Cairo, Egypt

We have traversed the land from north to south, and brought greeting to all the gods and goddesses of this our beloved land, the land of our ancestors and the birth of our ancient yet modern faith.

We have crossed the waters from the Great Green up to the source of the waters, the Isle of the First Time off the island of Aset's mighty temple, and we have performed the rites of rejuvenation, that our nation and our people might be united again, both in Kemet and around the world. In doing this we have strengthened our bonds with the gods and goddesses and with each other, and renewed Ma'at in the world.

A million times nekhtet!

Yesterday I completed all the prayers I had been saying for everyone as we left the island of Agilkia, where the temple of Philae was moved a few decades ago, and I gave gifts to the Nile at its magical source, the neighboring isle of Bigeh, Sokar-Wesir's island of rejuvenation where the great lord sleeps awaiting His own renewal. As my hands went into the water, a single hawk flew from the island, circled once, then disappeared.

A million times nekhtet!

May each of you receive all of the joy, blessing and happiness that the gods and goddesses of our beloved land are just waiting to give, if you have an open heart and open hands.

I love you and we will be back at Tawy very soon.

Dua Netjer! Nekhtet!

Thought for the Day:
I'll be back in the office sometime on Monday. If I don't get back on the internet before we leave Cairo, be good until I talk with you again!

Writing from Luxor, Egypt

Em hotep to all of you from the Beloved Land. Dua-Netjer for internet in strange places!

I'm writing mostly to send you all my love and affection, both on the mailing lists and here on the devotion now that I've figured out how to update it from away from home. Also, I need to report to those who were waiting on word from Sunday's re-coronation/jubilee ceremonies that I am alive, well, and ready to serve you for a long, long time to come. The rituals were carried out according to the festival book at the Heb-Sed courts of Saqqara and before the ancestors at various locations in this country, and have been accepted. I'm honored, maybe a little relieved that the hard part's over and now I can enjoy the rest of the trip to honor our gods at the various temples up the Nile, but excited to share this news with you.

Our gods are rejoicing. Kemet in its modern incarnation is doing very, very well (though I think they would like to have a little more tourism back). This afternoon in talking with some of the Egyptians we overheard that this year represents the best harvest in more than a generation -- that all Egyptians are eating, there are bumper crops of wheat and sugar cane, and everything is good for them in this way -- a sign even from antiquity of the blessing of Netjer upon the people and their land.

It is a wonderful time to be here, sharing the offerings and prayers of the daughters and sons of Netjer everywhere. Please accept my prayers, love and may the gods bless you and yours very richly!

I'll write again soon. Right now my heart and head are so full I'm afraid I'll start babbling if I don't limit this, so I'll close with this prayer.

Dua Netjer! Nekhtet!

Thought for the Day:
If you would like a special prayer said on your behalf in Egypt, click the prayers link below; I'll say them as I receive them though I may not be able to be back on the internet until Friday. In the meantime, please accept my prayers and blessings for all those known and unknown who read this. Nekhtet!

Feast of Zep-Tepi, Day 2
Saq-Khepera

As I close up the office and head for the airport, I carry all of you in my hearts.

I carry so much love and devotion, and so many prayers...the gods will be delighted to hear from Their children in Their ancient temples.

Next time we talk it'll be from halfway across the world. May the gods and goddesses bless you at the opening of our renewal pilgrimage, and may They bless this journey of Becoming, as the great god Khepera, Becoming Himself, appears.

Conducting Wesir in His Ship to Abdju

The Great God Wesir returns to the terrace of His mighty temple in Abdju, modern Abydos.

Growth and renewal are almost upon us as the Feast of Zep-Tepi, the Feast of Renewing the Year, nears, as the renewal of our faith at this time nears.

Can you feel the excitement?

I pray in the name of this mighty god that you are renewed, rejuvenated, and washed clean in His waters.

Dua Wesir! Nekhtet!

Birthday of Heru-Sa-Aset

So the birthday started out well, with the divination just last evening of one of His daughters, our Nuna in Mexico (nekhtet!). Then, before I went to bed just after finishing the sunrise services, I made a point of sprinkling some perfumed water in front of the shrines as I said happy birthday to this great god.

The icon seemed pleased, so I closed all the doors, left the temple and headed downstairs to make sure everything was locked up before I went to bed.

Upon my return to the second floor, I could smell the perfume, all the way around the corner in my office. (If you've been here, you know how far apart those rooms are, how high our ceilings are, and how implausible it would be for a little bit of perfume to be smelling up the office from the temple.)

I checked my clothes, and my hands which I had washed -- no scent. Walking around the corner, I was almost overcome with the smell of the perfume, and an incense which I often light in the shrine -- but had not lit this morning due to my allergies acting up a little. It was very strong, but a very good smell, a warm and friendly smell.

I bowed and went to bed, where I had some really powerful dreams of the Hawk that Protects.

Nekhtet for little things that remind us how close our gods are.

Dua Heru-sa-Aset! Nekhtet!

Thought for the Day:
"I prepared excitedly for my departure, as if this journey had a mysterious significance. I had decided to change my mode of life. 'Until now,' I told myself, 'you have only seen the shadow and been well content with it; now, I am going to lead you into the substance.'"

I would like to thank all those who have been helpful toward the Vodouisant community of Jacmel, Haiti which I visited over the last two summers. Food has become almost impossible to afford in the aftermath of the governmental change in the capital a few hours away, and so our friends initiated a grass-roots campaign to raise funds to help Vodouisants, who normally are turned away from other religions' charities in the country, be able to feed themselves and their families in this difficult time.

More than $1,400 was raised in the first three days of this effort, and I know that many of Kemet's people were helpful, as our Udjat Foundation helped in setting up the very first Vodouisant-based mission in the nation of Haiti last summer. I thank you on behalf of the people of Jacmel and encourage you to see how they are faring at the website our contacts in Haiti have put up to document this event.

In other charitable news, thanks to our Remetj, Jill, in Canada, we will be taking veterinary supplies with us to Egypt next week on behalf of the Society for the Protection of Animal Rights of Egypt (SPARE). In honor of the great goddess Bast, supplies to help SPARE deal with Egypt burgeoning cat population will be given to the animal shelter outside Zamalek, an area near Giza and Saqqara. I hope it is the first of a long association with charitable organizations in our Beloved Country itself, and I am also making appointments for meetings with orphanage and other human-service organizations while there.

Thank you for being part of what we do. Each hand held out, each bit of help, makes this world just that much of a better place, and our own lives more blessed.

Dua Netjer! Nekhtet!

As I enter the final week before I go back to Egypt to renew my kingship, I can't help but think about all of you. It's been such a wonderful pleasure to be able to get to know you through teaching and meeting and worshipping together. There are so many I have yet to be introduced to in person, yet I feel like I've known each of you for an eternity.

There is so much more on our horizon.

The excitement is building; while this will be a very deeply spiritual pilgrimage it is also one of joy, where I will go before our gods and goddesses in Their original homes and tell Them about Their new home here in Joliet, Their beautiful new home that is just starting to take shape under the loving hands of Their international children, the new nation of Kemet.

Thank you for being a part of our work in whatever way you are part of it. May the gods and goddesses bring you great blessing as we honor Them in this special time, the time of Zep Tepi, the renewal of everything we are and do.

Dua Netjer! Nekhtet!

Saq-Min

Growth arises, in obvious and not so obvious places.

Min arises, as His obvious attributes show and yet His hidden side manifests while no one notices.

May the great god of risen fertility, creativity and the power of procreation itself teach you something about Himself today that goes beyond the obvious.

I pray in the name of this god's mighty phallus, extended in all the glory of Life Itself, the symbol of the Male that constantly joins with the Female universe, that you find unity and creativity in yourself today, no matter what gender you are.

Feast of Ra and the Eye of Ra, Day 4
Feast of Pakhet
Day of Chewing Onions for Bast

The Eye of Ra is celebrated in two forms today: as Pakhet, "She Who Scratches," and as Bast, the "Devouring Lady." Onions in particular are sacred to the Eye of Ra, the sweet large yellow onions that remind one of the sun (and that produce tears (reme) the symbol of mankind (remetj)).

Make onions part of your offering to the goddesses today and celebrate Their protective influence in your lives in a symbolic way echoing the offerings of millennia past.

May the great goddesses and the great god Ra shine on you in all Their glory.

First Day of the Month
Feast of Ra and the Eye of Ra, Day 1
Rekeh Sheri ("Lesser Burning" Festival)

As I write the sunlight is streaming across the office and into my screen.

I've just completed a divination for one of Ra's children, and the sun came out as we were divining. Far away, in Brazil, where he sat on the other end of a computer, he told me afterward that he also could see the sun shining over me as I worked, and that it was a very moving experience to have a vision of being here even when he could not be here.

Even when I cannot be with any of you physically, I am with you in spirit. Because you are in my thoughts and my prayers and my heka, I am with you. Because I ask the netjeri of the land and air to watch out for you, we cannot ever be far apart. There is no place where you are, or where I am, that our connection of love cannot be felt, if only we pause a moment and acknowledge it.

Know that you are not alone. I love you, the gods and goddesses love you, your sisters and brothers of faith love you, and together we are all connected as the sunbeam connects the sky and the earth, as Shu connects Geb and Nut. We are all family, and we are all very much loved.

Tonight as you light your candles in honor of Rekeh-Sheri, realize that all over the world, other little lights mirror your own.

Dua Ra! Nekhtet!

House of Ra, House of Heru, House of Wesir
(Last Day of the Kemetic Month)

We honor the great kingly gods today as one month ends and a new month begins.

This month honoring Them has taken on even more meaning than usual as it is this month (less than three weeks away in fact) when I will see Them face to face in Their original shrines in Their original land, once again, a place where I have not set foot since my first coronation eight years ago.

It is going to be an incredible and meaningful month for me, and I suspect for many, who embrace the Zep Tepi of renewal inherent in its days.

May this month bring you blessing beyond measure.
