Bless all the children of Netjer, known and unknown! Feast of Wesir We pour ritual water for Wesir, great king of the dead, today. May He be splendid to you in His festival; may He hold out His gracious hands to you and accept your potential and make it grow. What have you offered to Him for nurturing? How is it faring? Time to check the mental garden! Dua Wesir! Nekhtet!

Bless all the children of Netjer, known and unknown! As we reach the end of another Kemetic month, and also near the end of our second Kemetic season, there is much to do. As in antiquity when the people would be setting ahead their farming chores in preparation for the great harvest before the heat of summer, we are working on many projects, getting ready either for the beginning of spring or fall, depending on which hemisphere we find ourselves in as a global nation and faith. May everything you've planned find favor and blessing before your gods, and may you take in even more than you set out for yourself. Such is the blessing of a good harvest, and the blessing of Netjer upon our sincere and honest work. I pray in Wesir's name that your potential blooms. Dua Netjer! Nekhtet!

Bless all the children of Netjer, known and unknown! Dua-Netjer to everyone who wrote in about yesterday's devotion. I hadn't intended for it to be anything profound, but just some wisdom I have come to embrace so far in my life, the common sense of treating people right and being treated right in return. Sometimes it takes things like that to remind me that the world we live in isn't always built around common sense. Perhaps it is time for us to take our message of such common sense, love and confidence to others. Wouldn't that be fun? A religion that told people not what to believe, but to care about and respect each other? Maybe it's already being done. We can add to the movement by our example. I pray in the name of great Ma'at that you always seek that inner sense of love, caring and belonging as your compass -- it can never steer you wrong. Dua Netjer! Nekhtet!

Bless all the children of Netjer, known and unknown! Never let anyone else dictate who you are. Never let anyone convince you that you are not good enough, not smart enough, not the right color, not the right religion, not the right gender...or not the right fill in the blank. Never allow yourself to believe for one moment that you are anything less than wonderful, a perfect creation of loving gods in a loving universe. Always remember that you are loved and cherished by your gods. Always remember that you are loved and cherished by your people. And always remember that I will love and cherish you, no matter who you are, no matter what you look like, no matter what you think or how you act, no matter how far apart we are, no matter if we don't even know each other yet. The universe is really this simple. If each of us would step into such a space of love and acceptance and just plain grace, how much more beautiful things could be.... Dua Netjer! Nekhtet!

Bless all the children of Netjer, known and unknown! Feast of Heru-wer and Hethert of Edfu Today Heru-wer's consort, the lovely and loving Hethert, joins Him in festival. Make it a special day for lovers and loving, for marriage and family. I give praise to the mothers and fathers, the husbands and wives, the fiances and fiancees, and all variations of same in love regardless of gender or orientation, as all love is sacred to this Holy Pair. May He and She of Gold grant you golden blessings of love, health, happiness and strength in Their great festival. Join with me in singing Their praises. Dua Heru! Dua Hethert! Nekhtet!

Bless all the children of Netjer, known and unknown! Feast of Heru Yet another feast of Heru-wer. (not that there's anything wrong with feasts of Heru-wer, but we do get to spend a lot of time with Him in celebration!) May He grant you strength, courage, wisdom and the ability to fly. May you find your wings to do so -- they've always been there, you know, at your calling. Reach out, and fly high. Dua Heru! Nekhtet!

Bless all the children of Netjer, known and unknown! Birthday of Apep There is even a holiday in our calendar to remind us of the birth of the Nameless One. Apep, "the Swallower" as we call it (not Its name, but the only nickname we wish to give it), the formless nothing that wishes to bring an end to Zep Tepi...even it had a beginning once. It is a reminder to us that even in that which we find the most heinous, there is a solution, and good will eventually win over all negativity. It is a reminder that the battle against allowing evil any foothold in our lives is never over. It is a reminder that while evil may always try to come among us, so does all that stands against it and protects us from it, at all times. May Ma'at be with you every day. Dua Ma'at! Nekhtet!

Bless all the children of Netjer, known and unknown! Yesterday evening as I was walking back to my house and contemplating recent lessons from Wesir, I felt a crunch underfoot. The spruce outside my house had dropped its pinecones...and they were all in a pile around where I was standing. I gave thanks to Wesir for the confirmation of my thoughts, picked up two of them to take back to His altar in my home, and continued on. Messages from the Divine can be as simple as a crunch in the snow.... Dua Netjer! Nekhtet!

Bless all the children of Netjer, known and unknown! Saq-Heru The day after the Sky is born, the great Speckled Hawk appears. Heru-wer, Whose Eyes make up sun and moon and Whose wings traverse the heavens, appears in the Sky, his domain (called Hetheru, like His wife Hethert). While last evening we honored Nit in Saq at our Dua which was rescheduled due to last week's server problems, today we will honor Heru's Presence in our shrines and hope to receive messages from Him. May He Who is in the Sky grant all blessing. Dua Heru! Nekhtet!

Bless all the children of Netjer, known and unknown! Birthday of Nut Even the sky has a day to be born. This day was Zep Tepi, the moment of creation. This day is also today. Under Nut's belly, look up and receive Her gifts. Within Her starry void are contained all the beings who ever were, and those who shall be: past and potential each caught up in the eternal present of Sky. Happy birthday, great goddess. Your birth gives birth to our world. Dua Nut! Nekhtet!

Bless all the children of Netjer, known and unknown! Feast of Nut Who Counts the Days Everyone is home, or on their way home, from our two excellent members' gatherings last weekend: the Northwest North America Members' Group and friends at PantheaCon in San Jose, California; and the International Group meeting in Berlin, Germany. Early reports have both groups saying they had a terrific time. Photographs and more will be appearing in our photo galleries and message boards very soon! Today we celebrate the festival honoring the Sky itself, great goddess Nut. Take time in your shrine to contemplate the passage of time as a devotion, and see what She has to share with you. Dua Nut! Nekhtet!

Tepy-Semdet (Full Moon Festival) Greetings from PantheaCon in San Jose, California! Our interaction Saturday with different religious groups in the Kemetic Orthodox Hospitality Suite was a great success. We were very pleased to get to know devotees of Netjer on the West Coast, and also representatives of several Asatru groups including the Hammer Oak Kindred. Dua-Netjer enten for your warm welcome and friendliness. If only all religious groups could find a way to be so polite and respectful toward each other, perhaps the world would be a much easier place to live in. Today, we honor the full moon in Wesir with a ritual to Him and His Akhu, and we invite all of you to share along with us in the celebration of those who have gone before us and their mighty King. We will also be hosting another Hospitality Suite to get to know more of Netjer's people and in fact the people of all gods. It is a good day to remember that for all of our differences, we also all have enough in common to come together where and when we can to be the change the world needs...if we have the courage to do so. Join with us in celebrating the past, the present and the future in the unity of the ancestors, the people of Netjer and those people we have yet to know. Dua Wesir! Nekhtet!

Feast of the Half-Month Greetings from PantheaCon in San Jose, California! We were very well received at our presentation last evening and are looking forward to continued interfaith networking with the "alternative religions" of the West Coast. Today we will celebrate the feast of the half-month and a festival of Heru-Behdety, Who owns the winged disk of victory. We give Him thanks for personally overcoming obstacles and ask for His blessing of strength and courage in our lives and in the world at large. I pray in Heru's name that you are able to find both the warrior within you and the peacemaker. May they be in harmony and may their work bring you nothing but joy. Dua Heru! Nekhtet!

Day of Making Health and Long Life Take the day off, or at very least, make certain you take some time for yourself. Spiritual and mental health are just as important as physical health. If you have any special health goals, today is a good day to reaffirm them before the gods and goddesses. As you enjoy your health, consider the god Khnum as Ra, creator in the sky, and be content. I pray in His name that you have a wonderful and very healthy day. Dua Khnum-Ra! Nekhtet!

Bless all the children of Netjer, known and unknown! Saq and Adoration of Djehuty and His Spirits Wisdom and knowledge, confidence and cleverness, all these things are represented by the Tongue of Ptah, the Advisor of Ra, Djehuty the ever-learned. May He of the Beak be adored by you today, and in turn, may you find His knowledge and wisdom in many places where you might not have found it before. I pray in Djehuty's name that you are given all of His gifts and more. Dua Djehuty! Nekhtet!

Saq-Heru, Day 4 At the first gleam of sunrise, as the last light of sunset, there is a moment when the light shines green. This is a reminder of Wesir's presence within Ra, and Ra's presence within Wesir. Today we honor Wesir as Amun-Ra coming forth from the Nun itself in the great boat, "strong of prow," the sacred boat of Waset. May Wesir Who is Amun-Ra in this day offer you great blessings and joy. And may Heru, Who has appeared among us for four days, honor you as He honors His brother. Dua Heru! Dua Wesir! Nekhtet!

Bless all the children of Netjer, known and unknown! Saq-Heru, Day 3 Four years ago today, our lives here in the Kemetic Orthodox faith changed in a very significant way, when one of our members was killed in an accident and we faced our very first funeral. There have been other rites of passage since: marriages, births, and even a few more deaths. However, this was one of the very first we faced as a faith, and it will remain a strong memory for many of us, especially some of our priesthood who had only been ordained a few months when they were called together to bring the entire faith through deep grief. We will never forget what happened, and we will also never forget Amunenma'atef, who went before us to be the first star in Nut's vault from our family. By remembering him today, we feed his ka and enable him to continue to be with us. Dua-Netjer enek, Amunemma'atef. May you have a thousand of beer and bread, beef and fowl, linen, alabaster, ointments and all the things upon which the souls of the justified live. May you rise with the day bark, descend with the night bark, keep your place among Ra's crew, and look kindly upon those who honor you upon earth with the breath of the mouth and the offerings of their hands. We miss having you closer to home. Dua Heru! Nekhtet!

Day of Judgment Today, after we've contemplated our responsibility and commitment to Netjer, we have that responsibility and commitment tested in the form of the Day of Judgment. If you were to die today, how would you fare in the judgment against the Feather of Ma'at? What can you do, or stop doing, that will improve your judgment when that day comes? Much to ponder as the great god of Justice, Heru, comes forth in appearance. I pray in His holy name that you find peace and justification, and are always true of voice before the gods and goddesses and Ma'at Herself. Dua Heru! Nekhtet!

Bless all the children of Netjer, known and unknown! What a week! We had nine separate people go through the Parent Divination Ritual, the first of three coming-of-age/initiation ceremonies in our religion. Eight of those nine will continue on to the second, a Shemsu Naming ceremony later in the month, and all nine of them now have lots of information and messages from their Akhu and personal gods and goddesses to think about this weekend. We're also gearing up for our appearance for presentations at the PantheaCon convention in San Jose, California next weekend, and an international gathering of our membership in Berlin, Germany, also next weekend. We hope to see you at either event as both will be a good time! Make room for a celebration in your shrine, and in your life, this weekend! Dua Netjer! Nekhtet!

Bless all the children of Netjer, known and unknown! The Eye of Ra Calls the Shemsu Today is the annual celebration of Shemsuhood for many Kemetic Orthodox, a day when vows are reinstated and honor is made to the gods, goddesses and spirits who call Shemsu to follow. The Eye of Ra -- in all Her forms and Names -- is calling Her followers today. (And no, She's not calling them dirty names!) Where is She calling you? And how will you respond? Dua Iryt-Ra! Nekhtet!

Jubilation of Wesir Big celebrations for the King of the Akhu and Their Guide today, along with all the children of the Jackal everywhere! (And everyone in the temple who have ever met Yinepu-Wepwawet can hear Him chuckling "but all children are children of the Jackal," I'm sure....what's not to love?) I pray in the name of Wesir Who is in celebration today, and the Jackal and all of His people, that you are given Their blessings of protection and creativity, potential and crazy wisdom. Dua Wesir! Saq-Nit at nighttime Celebrating Nit this evening as part of our biweekly U.S. Dua. Hope to see many of you there! Today we also honor a feast of Heru, great protective Speckled Hawk of heaven, along with the appearance of the Red Lady. It is a day to think about protection, and subtle strength. As the gods walk with us, we walk the road proudly, unafraid, safe. Nekhtet for Their presence! It's also the birthday of a man who is subtly strong, perhaps more than he realizes. Without the help of this person in my work, Kemetic Orthodoxy as you see it today would not exist. He is owed a debt of gratitude generations of our children will continue to repay as they reap the benefits of the hard work and vision put into what he has helped us to achieve, and the direction he now leads the main temple of our faith into. Who is this man? None other than the House of Netjer's chief priest, Kai-Imakhu Antybast. Take time out today and send him your greetings and thanks. Dua Nit! Dua Heru! Nekhtet!

Bless all the children of Netjer, known and unknown! Are you enjoying the little break in the festival calendar? Things are very busy here, with preparations for two major gatherings next weekend, a new beginners' group underway, and various other excitement. As I look outside and watch the newly-fallen snow swirling around in the pre-dawn wind, I know it will be a good day, and look forward to sharing it with all of you again. Zep Tepi is such a wonderful concept. Every day is the best day of our lives. Dua Netjer! Nekhtet!

Bless all the children of Netjer, known and unknown! Love is a fascinating quality. It cannot be touched, tasted, seen, heard or felt in and of itself, but only in the things it touches. It cannot be measured, except in its absence. It cannot be bought or lost, but it can be given away -- and giving it away makes it larger, rather than causing it to be diminished. It cannot be expressed by a person unless it already existed within that person. Like the Self-Created One, it seems to be its own parent, its own child. May you be given all the love of the universe, and may you find more in sharing it with that universe. And may Hethert, mistress of all Love, teach you these lessons and more. Dua Netjer! Nekhtet!

Bless all the children of Netjer, known and unknown! Yesterday morning, seven brave astronauts, five from the U.S., one from India and one from Israel, found their trip home becoming a trip to the Beautiful West instead. We send our prayers and love to the families of those who have been left behind, and to all who were touched by them and their sacrifice to further research into things like medicine and environmental science. We send prayers and love to those who knew them, worked with them, and must now be left with the sad task of learning what went wrong in order that this might not happen again. I pray in the name of Yinepu that they are swiftly guided to whatever place they choose to be in the West, and that Nebt-het grants peace and solace to those they leave on this side of the blue sky. First Day of the Kemetic Month We really know how to fire up a new Kemetic month, don't we! Nine festivals in one day...it'll be quite a weekend. Make a special offering in your shrine and celebrate in some special way. As we enter this new month, and with it the second half of the Kemetic year, we take time to look back on what we accomplished over the past six months, and then turn to face the next six months with that knowledge and those goals and challenges still with us. What do we wish to make of the rest of this year? What will we do with the rest of this year? Consider these things as you go before the gods and goddesses in your shrines as well, and be listening for guidance and answers. I pray in the name of all these festival gods that this month is granted all Their blessing, to everyone and everything we hold dear within Tawy, our Two Lands, the nation of our faith. Dua Amun! Dua Heru! Dua Ptah! Dua Heri-sha-ef! Dua Khnum! Dua Ra! Nekhtet!
