About
The daily devotions are written by Her Holiness the Nisut (AUS) and include prayers and special practices for the faithful, corresponding to the Kemetic Orthodox calendar.

From 1994-1999, the daily devotions had been available exclusively to followers of the House of Netjer. We share them now with the general public so that all may learn from these enlightening and thought-provoking missives.

"Cairo Calendar" Entry:
"Do not sail in a boat today. The gods are descending into the river. Anyone who approaches Them on the river will not live."

It's wonderful to be back after 12 days in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. I'll have more news about my trip and some of the things I was involved in there once the photos come back from the developers and I can put some essays together, but it was a peaceful and pleasant time though I am glad to be back online with all of you.

We're in the midst of celebrating the holy days of Heru-wer as Behdety, the Winged Disk, this month. This is a time to celebrate your accomplishments and rejoice. You are strong, you are protected and powerful, and you have His blessings. Nekhtet! May all your victories be strong.

Amun and Ptah as creators are also being honored at this time, to ensure that creativity continues as the year turns.

What will you promise Them with your offerings in this festival?

I pray that your shrine time is very productive and that you come out excited with new ideas and new challenges to meet.

And I love you all very much.

Dua Ptah! Dua Heru-Behdety! Dua Heru-wer! Dua Amun! Nekhtet!

Thought for the Day:
"You better live your best and act your best and think your best today, for today is the sure preparation for tomorrow and all the other tomorrows that follow."

God(s) of the Month: Aset
Current Decan: 16: Shesmu, "Executioner"

Today's Festival(s):
Raising the Djed for Wesir
Feasts of Shu, Menhyt, Sekhmet and Hethert

Say heru em meses nefer (Happy birthday!) to: no birthdays today

"Cairo Calendar" Entry:
"It is the day of putting up the Djed of Wesir's Majesty. Then the gods were sad, with Their faces downward, when They remembered this god. They pronounced [the names of] those who went before."

The Raising of the Djed is one of our holy festivals, ending the season of Wesir's greatest mystery and ushering in the seasons of growth and progress. We use it as a special day both to honor our ancestors (according to the ancient texts, even the gods say the names of the Akhu today) and as a day to contemplate stability in our lives and in our world.

Wesir's Djed pillar is raised and stability is given as an offering to the whole world: the backbone of Wesir, upright, reminding us that there is no ending without a beginning and there is no destruction without creation. This stability reminds us that we are here, we are safe, we have a place in the world and we can continue to have a place in the world, between the ancestors and the gods, in Ma'at. It is our gift to be used, our blessing to be received. It is the most wonderful thing in the world.

Rejoice for stability and order today, reaffirm it in your life, and honor He Who gave it to us, along with the Akhu He serves.

Dua Wesir! Dua Akhu! Dua Shu! Dua Menhyt! Dua Sekhmet! Dua Hethert! Nekhtet!

Thought for the Day:
"Stability is not immobility."

Today's Festival(s):
Heb Wer (The Great Festival of Heru-wer)

Say heru em meses nefer (Happy birthday!) to: Remetj Brenda A. of New York and Remetj Donald B. of New Mexico (Jan. 5); Remetj Eric S. of South Africa (Jan. 6) and Remetj Deb "Osipi" B. of West Virginia (Jan. 8).

"Cairo Calendar" Entry:
"Give your heart to your local gods; honor your spirits; exalt your crew during the day today." (Saturday); "If you see anything today, it will be good." (Sunday)

An ancient festival in honor of Heru-wer is celebrated this weekend, and the people rejoice. One of the ancient calendars says: "The altars are furnished with oxen and fowl, with gazelles, with oryx and with ibex. There is singing, dancing and rejoicing by the town's braided dancers. And then, in the eighth hour of the day, they stop at the palace...."

Enjoy a happy festival with music and food among your friends, and be sure to share it with your gods, your ancestors and your spirits. Have a wonderful Heb Heru-wer! May He bless you very richly in His great festival ushering in the second part of the Kemetic year.

I send you all love and blessings.

Dua Heru-wer! Nekhtet!

Thought for the Day:
