House of Ra, House of Heru, House of Wesir
(Last Day of the Kemetic Month)

When you find yourself thinking, what do you think about?

Does what you think about cause emotions?

Do these emotions support you or tear you down?

When you find yourself thinking, how can you serve ma'at, to yourself and others, with those thoughts?

How can you use your thoughts to create?

Dua Ra! Dua Heru! Dua Wesir! Nekhtet!

Feast of Amun, Day 10
Feast of Ptah, Day 10

We complete the great festivals of the Creators as we reach the end of the Kemetic month, and prepare for a new month and new festivals honoring other gods.

The cycle of our Kemetic life is predictable, calming, ordered like Creation itself.

May Ptah and Amun, Amun and Ptah, co-create for you many blessings.

Dua Amun! Dua Ptah! Nekhtet!

Feast of Amun, Day 9
Feast of Ptah, Day 9
Feast of Wesir and the Akhu

In the midst of celebrating creation and the Creators, we remember that there are those without Whom we would not stand upon this earth, without Whom the circle of life would not be complete.

Today I name and bless all ancestors, and at Their head, the blessed Wesir, the one Whose power forces creation across the barriers from unseen to seen and thus as Ptah-Sokar-Wesir sprouts the world from the germination of His very being.

Nurture this tiny feeling of growth within yourself, and honor those Who went before to give you the opportunities and the talents you need to make it into a mighty plant, a tree even that supports the universe and reaches back up to heaven, thus completing another circle of life.

I pray in the names of all the blessed Dead for you and for all of the family of the faithful past and present, of the greatly beloved one, Wesir, and the Lords Amun and Ptah, that it is a beautiful day filled with the sense of something growing very strong within.

Dua Amun! Dua Ptah! Dua Wesir! Nekhtet!

Thought for the Day:

Saq-Min (27th)
Feast of Amun, Days 7-8
Feast of Ptah, Days 7-8

What have you created in your own life? Whether it is a child, a work of art, or a success; a challenge, an anxiety, or a feeling of worthlessness, you are its creator and it answers to you.

How can you change your creations to reflect you and bring ma'at into your life and the lives of others?

I pray in the name of these great gods, all of Whom understand the mystery and power of creation, that whatever you create, by thought or deed or handicraft, is filled with blessing and glory.

Gather your dreams about you as you walk down the golden road of opportunity hand in hand with the Visible and Invisible Creators.

What can They help you to achieve in this journey?

As Ptah's silver hand and Amun's golden one hold yours tight, know that you are not, and will never be, alone in this journey.

I pray in the names of these two great gods that you feel Their nearness today.

The Gods Descend to the River
Feast of Victory (Mekhir Festival), Days 4-5

Amun and Ptah's sacred boats, containing Their icons, go to the Nile to greet each other upon the water.

The creators return to the waters of birth and all manner of creation begins.

May you find yourself within this sacred water as you approach Them in prayers and offering. Offer a bowl of the cleanest, coolest water you can find in Their honor, and as They breathed upon the Nun to create life, breathe upon it your deepest desires.

You are a holy child of the Divine and you are allowed to have all the blessings of the universe.

May you understand this deepest of all mysteries, and dive right in.

Feast of Heru-Shu, Day 3
Feast of Amun, Day 3
Feast of Ptah, Day 3
Feast of Victory (Mekhir Festival), Day 3

This festival is already coming in with blessings! I've been getting quite a bit of positive mail in the last 24 hours, with many people suddenly having positive and very encouraging changes in their lives.

I'll keep praying for everyone to receive the best of the blessings from this holiday. After all, Heru-wer loves our people, and He seems to love to do things for us! (Get in on it by offering Him something so He knows you're paying attention!)

Amun has also been very present in my shrine these three days. His presence is always comforting and sustaining. Dua Amun for His presence in our lives.

May you continue to have a joyous weekend.

Celebrate the victory as winter begins to shift into spring (or summer into autumn, if you are one of our people in the southern hemisphere)!

Even though it is bitterly cold here, the sun has been shining brilliantly onto the large Heru-wer statue currently resting in front of our altars, and He seems to be enjoying Himself and His offerings quite a bit.

May the Great Ones of this day shower you with blessings.

Aset-Sopdet ushers in an intense celebration, with a massive multi-day festival season for creator gods (Amun and Ptah) as well as those Who bridge the distance between heaven and earth (Heru-Shu, Heru-wer, and Hethert). The Victory Festival of Heru-wer reminds us that everything we do has the potential for great change and success, if we are only open to its possibilities.

I'm looking forward to meeting with our faithful in Dua this evening as we celebrate all these gods and all these holidays. Nekhtet!

The Goddess of Heaven Goes South Toward the Road

Aset, in the form of Her star Sopdet (the visible star of a binary star system today called Sirius) begins Her stellar shift southward today, anticipating the 70 days until Her return, the Wep Ronpet or Kemetic New Year. At this time, we mark the half of the Kemetic year.

Can you believe it's been half a year since Wep Ronpet already?

Use this time to rethink, regroup, and push ahead on new projects and finish up the ones you set as goals for yourself at New Year. Make special offerings to Aset, and to Nebt-het Who own this Kemetic year, to keep all good things flowing in your life through the year's second half.

No special holidays greet us, but the faith is in a place of celebration and joy following our seasonal festivals and as we prepare for the new wave of members joining our ranks.

It is a time of excitement here in Joliet as well, as we can start to see the bottoms of the packing boxes and our temple begins to take shape and structure, getting ever closer to the day we can open to guests and friends.

What excitements are building in your lives? May Netjer bring you many, and the joy to share them with others.

The Day Set Kills the Rebel

In the midst of a very busy week (six Parent Divinations and a graduation of a beginner's group; just today, Phase I of that graduation brings us 23 new Remetj, nekhtet!), we celebrate the victory of all that is good over all that does not serve us, all that seeks to keep us unhappy and enslaved to our despair.

Today, Set has shown us that through His might He has turned aside Uncreation for yet another day, bringing us in the blood-red fires of dawn another Zep Tepi, another First Time, another beginning.

While Set does this every day, we remind ourselves of His gift to us on this day after the Rekeh Wer, the day when we realize each day is a new one and Ma'at will always be there.

May the Great One of Strength, Mighty Son of Heaven, give you the courage and the stamina to struggle, to win your way to the top over any obstacle, and to keep you true to the Truth no matter what it takes.

Dua Set! Nekhtet!

Rekeh Wer, Days 4-5
Saq-Sekhmet (14th)

We end the great festival of Rekeh Wer with a holiday for Sekhmet to appear to the people. May the great Lady of the Blood-Red Garments promote healing and strength in your lives.

On Wednesday, we honor our Kai-Imakhu Inibmutes (Rev. Donna Schaefer), who is celebrating the anniversary of her ordination as an Imakhu priest of the goddess Aset. I owe a great deal to this strong and wonderful woman who has helped me to continue to serve our gods and our people over the past few years, and I look forward to many more years of her association with the people of Netjer. Congratulations, Dua-Netjer for you, and happy spiritual birthday to you!

Rekeh Wer, Day 3
Feast of Nit
Procession of Sobek

As the feast of Heru-wer continues, we add a festival for the great goddess Nit, and Her son Sobek the strong protector of all.

It is interesting how many festivals this month are for the gods in our family that wage war and protect those who cannot protect themselves. Ask these gods for strength, power, stability, courage and the ability to protect yourself and those you love -- They will teach you much in the ways of force, as well as in the ways of peace.

I pray in the names of these great gods that you are enveloped in a warm, red feeling of power -- the power of Those Who Watch and Guard.

Rekeh Wer, Days 1-2

The Great Feast of Heru-wer is upon us. Give thanks and offerings to Him that He might bless you during this time, when He blesses the planting of the willows along the Nile and the seeds of all of our new projects.

There is no better time than now to approach this strong god Who loves you all so very much.

Feel His blessing in your life, and reap the benefits!

I pray in my Father's name that each of you receives everything you ask for and even something you haven't asked for. I know that some of you are already receiving His blessings from the start of the festivals last week...and I know that the rest of you should start seeing some results soon! Invoking and Offering to the Ancestors
Feast and Procession of Nit

The Akhu, the shining blessed dead in the halls of Wesir, are honored as Wesir is renewed. We also bring offerings and our hearts before Nit, the matrix of creation itself, and complete a new cycle.

What things are you beginning at this time?

Are you ready for their growth?

I pray in the names of these important ancestors and our eldest goddess that you are given strength, blessing and love, on these days and throughout the year.

Tepy-Semdet (Full Moon Festival)
Erecting the Djed Pillar of Wesir
Feasts of Shu, Sekhmet, Menhyt and Hethert

The full moon comes, bringing with it the fullness of Heru's Eye. It also brings with it at this time the power of Wesir as full potential springing into life.

I will be placing the djed pillar, symbol of Wesir's enduring power of creativity and growth, in the shrine today as we continue to unpack and ready our new temple for public service. I give great thanks to our Djehutydjesi, who made a very beautiful stained glass Djed Pillar to use in this year's ceremonies. It should look quite pretty in the temple window when the holiday is over!

At home, place a Djed, or an image of a Djed, somewhere where you can see it. Remind yourself that you are strong, powerful, and can endure anything to get to what you want and need from life. Remind yourself that Wesir and Aset His wife stand behind you, ready to push you ahead and keep you from falling, and be at peace.

May the Royal Couple, beautiful Aset and Wesir, bless you richly at this full moon. I also pray in the names of the gods and goddesses of power and strength and force Who are honored today that They all lend Their power and strength and force to you to help you in everything you do.

Dua Wesir! Dua Shu! Dua Sekhmet! Dua Menhyt! Dua Hethert! Nekhtet!

Heb Heru-wer, Day 2

Normally, Heru-wer's festival only continues for one day. Last evening in shrine, the great god told me He wanted a second day of festival and offerings, and promised He would grant a wish to those who offered to Him today and remembered to ask.

In the past, when Heru-wer has offered to do things for people, we've heard some wonderful results. I encourage you to take Him up on the offer, give Him an extra offering today and tell Him what you wish for -- and then post in our boards and let us know what happens!

I pray in His name that you are blessed on this special second festival day.

Saq-Set and the Shemsu of Set
Navigation of Ma'at

It would seem unusual for the "god of chaos" and the "goddess of order" to go out on the same day, wouldn't it?

Consider that Set is the lord of transformation through change, and Ma'at the guardian of things being as they are meant to be, and reconsider.

As Set moves into your life today, consider asking His help with overcoming the obstacles that keep you from ma'at in your life. His ways may not be the easiest or the most comfortable, but, like the job He does every day defending Ra's boat through its journeys, you will know that His ways work -- and will continue to work for you.

The storms He produces wash away what is unnecessary and allow the growth of the new as well as the restoration of the old, the continuation of the cycles that Ma'at embodies. He is the impetus that creates movement in still places, and He can help you move to wherever you need to go, if you are ready. Follow Him, be His Shemsu -- and be taken to places beyond your wildest hopes.

May the Red Lord, Strong One in the Bark of Millions help you in any way you need to come into balance with Ma'at's blessings.

Dua Set! Dua Ma'at! Nekhtet!

Lunar Festival of Sokar-Wesir-Unnefer
Boat Procession of Yinepu

As we enter the second month of the second season, we celebrate the great gods of creation. Ptah, Great God Who makes with His Heart and Tongue, lifts up the heavens, great Nut, and allows Ra to shine forth. At nighttime, we continue Ra's celebration as He is mystically transformed into Sokar-Wesir-Unnefer, the beautiful Wesir in the darkness. And Yinepu, the keeper of the keys to all doorways and the owner of all roads, rides forth in His own boat to visit the faithful in the seen and unseen worlds and give His special blessing.

It is going to be a powerful, powerful month. Are you ready?

I pray in the names of all of these great gods that you are provided with everything you need to overcome any monthly obstacle and create for yourself your own heaven upon the earth.

Dua Ptah! Dua Ra! Dua Sokar-Wesir-Unnefer! Dua Yinepu! Nekhtet!

Thought for the Day:
"Look with favour upon a bold beginning."
Virgil

Bless all the children of Netjer, known and unknown!
May your coming be peaceful.

Last Day of the Kemetic Month
Feast of Hethert

As we complete the first month of Emerging within our own calendar, the world's calendar flips forward to another year. Welcome to 2004 and may it bring you all the things you dream of and hope for and even more.

I continue to celebrate the mysteries of the Wandering Goddess and Her Return today. This year it has been a particularly special holiday for me, as I have been pondering the mysteries of gratitude, appreciation and how one gains love by giving it away.

Join me in the celebration of our holy goddess of love and Her return to us, and find peace.

May your holidays, whatever they are, be special.

Dua Heru! Dua Ra! Dua Wesir! Dua Hethert! Nekhtet!

Thought for the Day:
"If you find it in your heart to care for somebody else, you will have succeeded."
Maya Angelou
